yeah, at a cat 4 storm when it gets to you. Cat 4, I'm outta dodge!

Hopefully the track will change for you guys in SE Fl. The "cone of uncertainty" is still quite large.

Have the news on and looks like its weakening and being pushed south, looks like a good chance it'll just skirt south FL. Better, ####, I have a project for one of my developers directly on the ocean in Sunny Isles...last thing I need is a Cat 4 hitting before funding lol.

But yeh originally it reminded me of Andrew, crazy fast intensification, and its small. Andrew was a tiny hurricane, but those are generally more dangerous as they focus all power in a narrow path instead of spread out. They still don't know how powerful Andrews winds were as every main anemometer was destroyed, some recorded constant wind speeds of 175mph before breaking meaning gust went above that, most of them all broke at 130-140 mph. The smaller storms also spawn more vortices inside b/c of the compact convection, thats what does almost all the damage. Andrew had like no rain, but South FL looked like 1,000 nuclear bombs were dropped on us.
 
Maybe you should move to Oklahoma--we get the hurricance without the water.
 
Maybe you should move to southern Ontario, all we get around here is snow. But it doesn't blow our houses and down or flood our property.

I hope they've refueled the buses and have them on standby in New Orleans! Now, unfortunately, half the people will stay and not leave. It must suck knowing you have to store your chainsaw or axe in your attic so you can create an escape route. Don't know that I would sleep well at night knowing this.
 
Looks like its going to skirt between Cuba and the Keys now, and head into the Gulf.
 
Ike is about to give Cuba a major ass kicking, eye looks like it will be crossing the whole island
