Most finishes can be refined to a mirror-line gloss using the right product and tools. The chart below is straight from the Menzerna product page here on Autogeek.

As you polisher using finer and finer grit polishes, notice how the cut and gloss rating changes progressively. Menzerna SF 4000 is about as fine as I go and it yields a gorgeous gloss.

Once the finish is the acceptable, don't forget to protect it with a sealant or wax! :props:

I've been a longtime Meguiar's user so I'll vote for something I've achieved tremendous success with....:props:

The best way I've found to achieve the look you are trying to achieve (I'm assuming this is a dark car), is to go over the finish with an ultra fine polish. Of course , this is once the defects are removed.

When using an UF polish, your eyes may not be able to see the difference locally on a test spot. But, if you polish the whole car correctly and you step back and look at it - it should almost glow.

Of course, there are soooo many other variables. If your looking for a polish recommendation to achieve this, I like Optimum Finish Polish or Rupes Diamond Ultra Fine (with Rupes' system) - each with the appropriate finishing pad.

A lot of people will recommend Menz SF 4500 to "jewel" with. It's a good polish and does leave stunning results. However, I've gotten the same results with the other 2 polishes, with less polishing time - an no gummy pads. The Optimum Finish is SMAT. Get in - Get out. 3 or 4 gloss boosting passes is all you need. No need to "break down" the polish.
