"I have some advice for you..."

Well, he probably meant Japanese. I'm sure no offense was intended. Foreign or import wouldn't have made sense in the context he was using as German is foreign as well.

while most likely not, it's just something to consider when posting in the future on any board... :xyxthumbs:

Over in our part of the world, the term "Jap" is commonly used when referring to Japanese cars. We don't really talk about imports. If you said to most people "I drive an import" they'd look at you as if to say "wha??" as the majority of cars are imported.

The Sky looks awesome Corey, who cares about those stupid judges! In true highend concours judging, you better not have glossy tires and trim or swirled up paint (or any imperfections) because they judge based on factory appearance and for true perfection. That is where pursuing a natural, clean look for your car will truely shine... Now to wait 60 years and let that Sky age a bit and one day, you can bask in your matte tire products at Pebble Beach perhaps!

Thank you! Very nice!!! 60 years-I've got something to look forward to!:)

Also in your part of the world I think people aren't as politically correct or overly sensitive. At least about this subject.

Takes me back a few years to a show I went to with my '64 Galaxie.

I had spent a lot of time restoring this car back to factory original condition. At the time I was a member of (and judge with) the Antique Auto Club of America, so I had been through their judging schools and knew what was expected at their shows. My car had taken the top prize it was eligible for at each of the AACA meets we had attended, so I knew it was no slouch.

Had a fairly local benefit show come up, and I went and entered the show because I felt the cause was worth it. After the judging (awarded the trophy for "Best Ford", BTW), a young man 10 years my junior came up and told me he enjoyed judging my car, but would be glad to point out some of the problems with my car so I could correct them for future shows. Mind you, I didn't show the car too much locally, so I'm sure he hadn't seen it at a show before and he felt it was a new restoration when it was actually about 4 years old at the time. I was also in my mid 30's.

When he made his offer, I walked to the front of the car and pointed to the "First Junior/Senior award" badge from AACA on the grill and politely told the young man that the Antique Auto Club of America had no issues with this car and I wasn't going to change anything about it.

The look on his face was priceless....

I didn't make the statement to offend. Its is merely a term used to describe something from japan when used in the way that I did in a Short hand way. It is the same as we and used in the same way we call New Zealander's "KIWIS" or "KIWI MADE" and you call us "aussies". I understand that the term if used as an insult can be taken as insensitive but that is not how I used it or wanted it to come across.

If you do a search on the Word "jap" in the autogeek search tab you will come up with 20 other posts that use the term in the same way that i did and those comment's aren't all from my part of the world.

Now going back to the topic.

The point i was making was that i agree with in that some judges don't know what they are doing or talking about.

If you enter any kind of competition with human judges, you will just need to accept that they will have their own biases when making very subjective opinions especially when there is no documented scoring system.

That's actually why I stopped competing in Car Audio. When I went to the IASCA World Finals in 1997 I had a 100 point difference between the two sets of judges!!! What a joke! It was the difference between 1st and 9th place!

I certainly did not take any offense whatsoever :) and I don't believe anybody else did either. re-read my posts I completely understand what you were saying. :)

I can imagine!

I hear you and I've now learned the same. It's all about having a good time :) And it's a better time if you lose the expectations regardless of the effort you put in. The best reason for doing things with effort and pride have nothing to do with winning anything.

We all know how great your car looks.
Thank you! :detailer:

One thing I find with all of the local weekly car shows is that if you're not in with the guys that show up every week then you can forget about winning anything.

The local car clubs here that put on the shows seem to only vote for their buddies that are in the club.
