I have been wanting to tackle the severely water spotted windows on my family mini-van for quite a while now. They have been there since we bought the car :o I finally got started this week and was able to put my new water spot remover to the test.

Products used:

  • Chemical Guys Water Spot remover
  • MF applicator pad
  • MF towels

Process:

  1. Apply a couple lines of product to the MF pad and spread in a small 12"x12" area or so.
  2. Rubbed the product in thoroughly with a little bit of pressure and rinsed with water while rubbing with my rubber gloves.
  3. Wiped dry with MF towels.
  4. Repeated for each section and spot cleaned areas that did not come off completely on first attempt (usually around the window edges).

Here is a 50/50 shot of where you can see the bad spotting compared to a single treatment of the water spot remover. Came out better than expected!

Nothing overly exciting but I was happy with the results and thought I would share :) I did a detail on the car as well that included a wash, clay, sealant, and headlight restoration. The few pictures I took can be found below:

As always I am open to critique, adjustments to technique and/or products, etc. Thanks!

nice work! how long did it sit on the glass before rinsing?

Not long. I rubbed the product in for about 3 minutes per section, with the MF pad, then immediately sprayed it down with water while rubbing with my gloves.

Thanks for all the other comments, really happy with the results! I thought for sure I would not be able to get those nasty spots off :o

Very nice, i have this product but have used it once so i should try your method. Thanks!

I was thinking about putting the gel on the windows and letting it sit for a min. Then take an old polishing pad and use my pc to scrub it for another min then rinse...

Are you willing to wear a full body suit?

Sounds like a solid plan, go for it! I will be experimenting with my PC as well with a similar technique, I just wanted to try the hand process first to see how it would work.

The instructions say it can be applied either by hand or machine polisher.

It's a chemical cleaner..do you really need to rub it in with a machine? Is it worth having to cover all the body panels, trim and yourself from splatter?

I think the constructive feedback you were trying to get across was: "I don't recommend using a PC as you risk splattering the chemical product, requiring unnecessary clean-up. The hand application works fine."

:xyxthumbs:

I am clean window OCD also. I have never used the CG product. How does it compare to Pinnacle?
