in the process of making a nice daily driver ... should be out of the shop by July and by summer 2014 it will probably be a bagged low rider.

got to relearn stuff ...
haven't done much of any detailing since the late 80's

Tryin to figure out what extra I want on the paint job ...

Thinking about red pearl on a dark red paint like whats on it now but fresh ... not 100% sure if pearl or a fairly fine metal flake or fleck.

I'm told the limits are basically 3 coats ... don't know why but several paint shops said same thing

:welcome: to AGO

Pic not working for me either.

Ok now I see it. That is going to be a fun project car.

really fun! It's touching into a lot of stuff I have never messed with - more customized paint and building a mild low rider.

The trick will be in making sure that the originality of the car remains in tact. The key will be minimal modifications to the original part (of course with the exception of CHROME :props: )

What brought me to this forum was a Google search where there was a comment about one product made metal flake more noticeable and for longer and I was wondering if it were a carnauba based product or a synthetic.

Sounds/looks like you'll have FUN!!

What's under the hood...a 6; or an 8?

:)

Those wheels look like the same ones I had on a jeep wrangler?Looks like a fun project good luck.

This will be a nice project to follow and you said you haven't detailed since the late 80's, well those wheels on the prject car look to be from the same era, along with white lettered tires, LOL. The engine sounds like a good start, maybe slide in a "Duntov" cam and tune it and drive it!

What wheels do you plan on putting on it? Personally I like Vette rallies with either 67' disc brake caps or the 68' police car caps. What color is it going to be? There's so many companies out there that make parts for it that you should have no problem turning that "SIX FOE" around.

as for rims - kind of want to stay away from Vette anything for a while
got tired of the '74 stingray I had about a year ago
thinking 14's like these but in aluminium

and as for the engine - it was rebuilt about years ago at a resto shop ... then parked for MANY YEARS on the guys lawn.

It's got about 20k on the rebuild and sounds very smooth. it sounds better (lot better) than my El Camino

and for parts on thisthing ... OMG - everyone and their mother sells parts for these!

Gotta be careful though ... paid $200.00 more than I should have for a new full grill set up ... stuff happens!

Ahhh, a 74' with what looks like an 80-82 nose and tail. I was talking about the Vette steell rallies but the Torque Thrusts are very nice and classic, I'd go with 15's though, more tire choices and better ride and handling for sure.
