I Love My Wife and Kids...BUT......

John -
My wife and I just purchased a new vehicle, and trust me, you aren't alone.
She is concerned with the things that leave a lasting mark that I can't fix, but other than that, nothing is sacred.

After eating in it on the way home from work the FIRST WEEK I realized that I was going to lose the battle. I was pretty upset with that one, but she just ignores me and goes on. Oh well. :dunno:

I know my wife has about had it with me cleaning my MF towels in the washing machine, she wants me to go to a laundry mat...I get into an occasional arguement or should I say silly spat about why my car looks like it just came off the showroom floor and hers looks like she went 4 wheeling at f**kin' soggy bottoms....I tell her, because you don't give a flying s**t about your Jeep, she replies.....well that's why I have you....

I love this thread!! Just remember most women don't worship their cars like you guys do. But you also beat the heck out of your wallets while they are putting a fresh coat of leather conditioner on their purses! It's all relative to what is important to you. But this thread is great for a good laugh, nice to see you can all relate!

What I hate the most is I will spend a hour or so cleaning her vehicle taking my time. I will wipe down, vacuum the interior, removal all the trash.

The outside will stay clean as long as it doesn't rain or she doesn't drive through a puddle. But give it a day or two and the interior is a mess a again.

Now I'm one of the lucky husbands, but it took about two years.

My wife use to be in the category echoed in this thread but after two years of keeping her dark blue car clean, polished and waxed she slowly came over to the dark side. :poke:

A couple days ago she was in the garage, door open, and a neighbor stopped by to chat with my wife. The neighbor put her keys on the trunk lid and my wife promptly said "Better remove those before G sees it - he'll flip." But actually it was my wife who was really upset - she just used me as the scapegoat (we do that all the time to save face). :argue:

Now she notices most "little" things and asks me to fix them, she is even starting to comment about cars on the road/in the parking lot. :detailer:

I hope I haven't created a monster...but I love her just the same. :dig:

Regards,
GEWB

It's been a long winter here in New England and last Sunday was the first time I actually got a good look at the interior........... what a DUMP.... :surrender:

My wife came out and said she'd help but I told her no, that I would take care of it. She did apologize but I told her I was thinking of taking photos of it and put them on Autogeek so everyone could see how she cares for her car!!

She asked me not to and promised that she'd take proper care of it if I kept those photos do myself...

It's Wednesday so it has been three days and she garages the car every night and the interior is spotless..........for now.

Maybe threatening her with you worked..............time will tell the tale...

Funny thread.

I'm sure some of you are dead serious about it but as Meghan and others have pointed out it's all about what is important to each individual. I dislike dirty interiors more than I dislike dirty exteriors so I can relate to what you are saying.

In the interest of full disclosure, I am not married and have not been so I only have myself to kick if the car gets dirty. :D

I'm soooooooo glad I'm in the minority here. My wife keeps the interior spotless and parks AWAY from other cars. If she does have to park next to another car, she writes down the plate # incase of a ding when she comes out. Which BTW, she does a full walk around of the car whenever she gets back to it to make sure nothing happened to it while gone.

Blackmail...maybe you're onto something here:props:

Man, that's rough! The purse dragging on the roof is the one that really gets under my skin, but all of them would drive me bonkers if it was my own car.

This thread is making me feel VERY lucky that I have a girlfriend who respects her and my cars as much as we Autogeeks do.

Why is it that she can go to the gym 67 times a week, but HAS to park as close as possible to the entrance of a store and constantly get door dings?

Why is the roof a package holder while you open the door? And is it that heavy that it has to be DRAGGED across when it's retrieved?

Why is that she thinks the cupholders are change purses?

Why is it that they think the door pockets are a trash bin?

Why is it that she HAS to take the neighborhood kids to Baskin Robbins and eat IN THE CAR after a 2 day detail?

Why do they feel the need to bring part of the baseball field home in the car?

How many stretchy hair thingys do we have?!

How many retractable umbrellas do we own?

Has the trunk become the new attic? Why is so much crap being stored there?

And last but not least.............

WHY IS IT THAT WHEN I USE THAT CAR IT'S ALWAYS ON " E "

Thank you, rant over......

You have found my wife:xyxthumbs:Im the MAN:dblthumb2:

Worse yet than the purse drag is the keys that get thrown on top of the roof from a considerable distance, it's like nails on a chalkboard to me....

I can empathize with you all! My wife loves it when her car looks new but can't seem to take the effort to keep it looking that way... She basically lives out of her car because of all of the Dr visits that she has to take our son to it is about 10 per week and the hospital is about 35 miles one way from our home... On top of that she is a leader of the BSA troop that our son is in and hauls kids around all of the time... One time when I actually got her car for 2 days (she was out of town) I detailed it and just 3 days after she had gotten back she told me that there had been a spill in the back seat! I go out there to clean up the spill and low and behold there was a 2 day old cheese burger under the pass front seat and a spilled spoiling milk shake all over the back seat! Ugh!

I love my wife to death but man she just kills a vehicle's appearance and cleanliness...

My ex wife was the absolute worst, one time she walked thru newly painted lane markers in the ER driveway where she works and went right in the car leaving paint foot prints all over.
Current GF, not wife just together over 8 years, works out of her SUV so there's all kinds of stuff everywhere. She evens complains when I spend 90 minutes "just washing" the the SUV but is also the first to give credit to me when some one compliments her on how nice it looks. She's gone skiing for 4 days so Friday night and all day Saturday is clay, polish, seal the paint and scrub the interior time.
