See below pics. Just noticed today it seems to me that the shaft has excessive play - not on the plane of rotation, but the shaft "rocks" The pictures show what I mean. I put the backing plate on snug, and tried to show by the way the pad rocks re: look at the gap change between the pad and housing. Using my foot just to brace it still, but it rocks quite freely.

Maybe this is a known fixable thing, but if not I'll ring up the GG folks; I just don't have anything to compare it to. Had this just over a year, personal home use only.

Follow-up. Vacation and life got in the way, so it's been like a month or so.

I had occasion to be in Tacoma last week, so I took the machine with me to the Griot's store there.

Dude looked at it for maybe 5 seconds, commented that they had seen very few start to wear like that, and handed me brand new boxed GG6 of the shelf. Counting the time for him to physically get the replacement, we tied up all of 60 ~ 70 seconds in the exchange process. I knew there was a reason I went with the Griot's......

Of course, then I had to go and start browsing and buying stuff while there anyway, which kinda torpedo'd the process. But, I did then have some new goodies to try out this weekend, so......

Anyway, yeah, the guy said that was a fairly rare, but had occurred, problem, and the replacement with a new boxed item was a complete non-hassle. No questions, just thx for being a customer. :-)

Very reassuring story. If I had read something like that before I bought mine, I wouldn't have agonized over which polisher to buy as long as I did.
