I thought I knew something-but I know nothing

I would return anything that you can. You could do much better from here for the same amount of money. The Megs G110 polisher is only $140, or $170 for a Porter Cable 7424 kit. If not your wasting your money on any less quality polisher in my opinion. If you opt for no polisher at this time you could spend a little more on good products. Poorboys Professional Polish is nice, even by hand. You could also buy Natty's Blue for $20. It is a great entry wax. Not meaning to be rude at all.:) If you really don't want to order something online, you could go to Carquest and buy Duragloss products. Their whole line is pretty nice.

I agree, dont even waste your time or money with 90% of car care products from kmart/walmart/autozone/etc.. I saw a difference of night and day between the crap at the local stores and the quaility products i purchased after doing some research on proper car care. I no longer use the crap i purchased from kmart/autozone it just takes up space.

Since it hasnt been mentioned in this thread, I think the "Detailing how-to" section on autogeek might be helpful to you there are some videos too.
Click "store" at the top of the screen then click "detailing- how to" on the next screen.

Also,, if you intend on making a large purchase and are not in a huge rush you can wait until autogeek runs another sale (recently there was one for 10%) to save a little money. there are also other cardetailing sites that sell the same products so its up to you.

Yeah, since I came home and did a little more reading, I already knew I was going to return the polisher. Do you think I should return all the stuff I got too? The mothers and Meguiars stuff is no good? It's easier for me to hide purchases from the lady when I do it it cash. Gonna be hard to explain a $250 purchase on "car crap" as she has so dubbed it.

Since I probably will take your advice and return everything, which package should I buy? I was looking at the Porter Cable 7424 Wolfgang Kit, and the Pinnacle Kit as well. Would I need to get anything else at the same time? I like the idea of layerin the carnuba on top of the sealant. Can you recommend something maybe not quite as $$ as the Pinnacle Signature Series II? That would put me over the $300 mark. Thanks

After I do a couple of my buddies cars to pay it off then I will be able to justify buying more, but I just want to get started and get a feel for it all.

If you're going to get a kit, get the PC Menzerna 5.5" pad kit. You're going to spend a little extra money, but you are going to have the best products and the bottles you get are huge.

Welcome to AG! Read and ask questions. There is way too much information here for you to get it all in a few visits. This is a never end book, that gets better everytime you pick it up. Take your time, you have alot to learn!

I like how you put that.:whs:

If you really find it necessary to hide this from your wife, get your cash back and put it on one of those wal-mart debit cards, so you can order from here. Someone suggested the PC Menzerna kit, which you can't go wrong with. If you're looking for a cheap sealant and wax, I'd look into Poorboy's EX-P sealant and Poorboy's Natty's blue wax. You get a very good product for a nice price.

Natty's Blue is AMAZING!!!

Anything from Poorboy's is pretty good for the money. I love professional polish (just ordered a 32oz bottle, goes a long way). It is great by machine or by hand. Natty's Blue is a great looking wax for $20. Or you could try some of the Duragloss products. You can buy them at Carquest, though they are cheaper here. Duragloss Aquawax is a must have product. I also love Duragloss 101 and I get it for $6 in town. Also for $30, you can get Collinite 915. Im about to try it and have high expectations.
