I used Armor All, yes I did!

Even worse than AA was this STP Son Of A Gun stuff. It was a product like AA, but even greasier. I used to buy it because it was always a dollar less.

While we're reminiscing, remember the days when you washed the car with dishwasher detergent and dried it with the family bath towels. Didn't start using Armor All until years later.

I use AA quite often on tires. Looks nice, not overly shiny, and it's readily available. Honestly, I cannot see paying a ton of money when AA works just fine.

Got rid of my armor all wipes and spray just a few months ago. It was all I knew until I started browsing all these forums.

I humbly beg to differ...what if the customer specifically requests said product?:o

Good night

It's without a doubt the most known detailing protectant on the market. Do they want it because they believe its the best or do they know no different? I suggest it's the latter and up to detailers to educate their customers of their other options and advantages/disadvantages of them.

Having said that the formula of AA has changed vastly and is a very different product from when I used to use it. It's name was tarnished in its heyday when it used non water based silicones.

Back in 1991 my first car, a red Isuzu Impulse was Armour All'ed to death every week. Inside and out.

Remember the black plastic/rubber bumpers? If I recall it even had a black plastic side rail.

Still, I loved that car more than any other I have owned.

Rally car wax and Armor All protectant........The "good ole' days"

STP son-of-a-gun... NOW THERES a product I used alot of back in the day. Maybe thats exactly why I hate my dash being shiny now!! lol. Barely ever used the AA products after reading bad things about them in the late 80's early 90's.

the nice thing is the tire foam can be used on both the tires & wheel wells... :dblthumb2:

Yes, yes, and yes to AA, bleech white, SOS pads, beach towels, dish soap that " really cuts the grease", brushes, chamois, squeegees, vinegar and newspaper, ammonia and newspaper. But the worst was when I used nail polish remover on the plastic clear lens of my dash (I have no idea why?).

Damn, I have gotten better.

Re: Reminiscing - "Westley's Bleche White"

Oh, man!! I thought that stuff was Saturday morning cartoons and my birthday presents all wrapped in one white bottle. I can remember washing a friend's yellow '73 Jeep with Westley's poured in a bucket. Strange thing, it wasn't real shiny after that. Lord, the things we tried when we had no idea what we were doing!!

What's wrong with Bleche-Wite? I don't think it works much different from an APC besides the gagging fumes. I still use it occasionally. Is there something wrong with it?

Omg !!! I had one as well in red. I loved that car. I used Armour All by the gallon on that thing !!!

Ok, I'm bumping this.......

So I tried looking....is AA really that bad for interiors, or is it just a subpar product to others on the market.....Can someone explain to me why everyone hates it so much?

Am I damaging my interior by using this, or does it just not last as long. I get the crap as presents from my family, so I should probably tell them to stop :D

Thanks! :xyxthumbs:

For me, it's extremely greasy, extremely glossy (blinding in sun on black dash), and it just doesn't last. So many better products out there IMO, including other OTC items.

She knows what she likes on the tires of her 4 vehicles.
