I am sure they get good gas mileage when they travel this way...

little souveran will shine that right up:D

I seriosly considered getting Land Rover LR3 before getting an Acura, as I was looking at SUVs at that time...but I read some reviews and changed my mind...also didn't like it's depreciation value...

Hey if you don't like the depreciation, Land Rover lets you file the vehicle under accelerated depreciation as long as you meet a few qualifications. I'm not kidding either, it's somewhere on their website.

Newer Rovers are fine, its the old ones from years ago that gave a bad rep. BMW/Ford did wonders for them. I still don't care for them, especially the sport as its not even remotely sporty in supercharged form (its one porky heavy lil mofo) and is kinda cramped inside, but I have friends with them and they've been reliable. I know one girl whose 05' RR has just over 100K miles, does a lot of driving.

why do they lose value so quickly?

why do they lose value so quickly?
vehicles that market doesn't want don't hold their value well...I see a lot of BMWs all over California, a few less Mercedes Benz vehicles, and much less Audis...so guess what? Audi doesn't hold it's value well...Same goes for Jaguar, and Land Rover. Now that's on luxury brands...on daily driver, it's a car that's gonna do a lot of miles...so it needs to run, run, and run...and guess what? I see more, and more Toyotas, and Hondas around the state then others...As far as trucks - the big three are still here, but their cars don't sell so well, as people want their trucks, or Japanese cars for daily use...this creates a depreciation value...all cars depreciate, some more, some less. And the cars I drive, I wanna take the least hit by depreciation...

Parents had one, in the shop almost monthly for weeks at a time...FAST looks sweet, but problems from day one. They got rid of it and got a Toyota Tundra.

agreed. The new ranges are fine. Its the older ones that were prone to problems. However the parts for them are astronomically priced. Its not the car for someone who wants to buy something used and is on a budget and is looking for something economical. Its for someone who lves the truck and doesnt mind spending a few bucks on it, especially when they took advantage of its quick depreciation and got a good deal on it. I have an 01 ML55 that I got for a steal when gas prices were near $5 a gallon. I havent had any problems with it but needed a couple little things which were pricey. Although not that pricey if you dont mind shopping around online. However I dont mind paying a few dollars for small repairs considering I love the truck. I love driving it, its fast for an suv and handles great for an suv and I invested in a good 3rd party warranty that covers the truck to 185k miles, powertrain and major electric. . Mileage isnt bad at all for an 8 cylinder AMG sport SUV. Benzs dont depriciate nearly as bad as ranges though. If it comes down to it, and you must have one, just make sure you have a powertrain warranty, at least a good aftermarket one. If you blow the motor or tranny without one, your gonna wanna kill yourself when u see the bill.

See, that's what I mean...It is a nice SUV, but not realiable at all...It breaks, so our technichians can have a job...forget it...NO WAY!

People are still hung on the old ones, early 90's, 80's and before etc. The new ones are fine, I know quite a few owners and we have a few in our fam, no problems including the chick that has just over 100K on her 05'. Once BMW /Ford took over they greatly improved the vehicles. I have a friend who just leased another one last week. I'm still not a fan, but there's a big misconception on them. Look at all the trouble Toyota had/is having with the new Tundra, I'd rather drive a Pinto instead of having weak brakes when towing, beds cracking, beds hitting the rear of the cab, weak tranny and rear diff. Truck is fine when not being used for what it should be as we know people who use them in heavy work on job sites and construction etc, cannot hold a candle to the abuse an F-150 will take. Actually funny I say that as my IT guy has a new CC Tundra and he had the transmission replaced in Dec.

The one thing I have against them is the RR Sport, its just not sporty at all, so I guess they called it the "Sport" b/c it's smaller then the RR, but it's not that small....it's cramped inside for what it cost and how heavy it is, one heavy lil mofo. It does look good though.
