there was a way for a wax to show where I might have missed when doing a white car. I did my pearl white g37xS today and I know I missed spots. Maybe a contrasting color when it is dry?

Perhaps one could shine a UV light on it and it would show where the wax coverage was absent after buffing it off?

Never have done a white car before. I did it in our enclosed basement garage and have decent flourescent lighting, but I really really struggled. I did a 4:1 mix of DG501 and 601 and used a little over an ounce with LC white smart pads. It looks awesome so far but it is down in my inner thoughts that I missed spots. Feed back please
 
How about just doing another coat? Take your time next time you do it and get even coverage if you are only going to do one coat.
 
I wish.....I had a G! But I know what you are saying. That's part of the reason to do two coats.
 
When I do a white car with the DG 501/601 combo right before I wipe it off I take the car out in the light for a quick peek to see if I missed anything. Funny thing is I usually follow that up with 601/105 so really it's redundant but works for me.
 
I actually wax panel by panel and have a little checklist with each body panel on my phone I just check off what I've already done. I do it pretty much solely for white/silver vehicles, but if I have a friend over and am working on their car with them for free, it helps keep track when you've had a few beers in ya...
 
I guess the 2nd coat might be a good way to try to overlap anything missed. Never realized how hard it would be to do white.

Is there an advantage of the 105 as the 2nd coat that you could explain to me over doing a 2nd of 501?
 
You're not going to be able to layer DG 501 due to the abrasives and cleaners. Applying DG 105 as a second layer will give you a good bit of protection over DG 501 alone. If you're pad turns a different color then you will know you missed a spot.

Good point I did not see that he was using 501 when I recommended a second coat!
 
Maybe something that turns fluro green or purple when it dries, the way that Sonax wheel cleaner does, or maybe goes on a dark or bright colour, then changes to clear or white as it dries.

It's especially hard to see where you've coated when you're trying to go super thin.
 
Heh, this is why Dodo Juice sometimes recommends using their darker waxes (Blue Velvet or Purple Haze) on white and other light-colored vehicles - makes it easier to see where you've applied the wax :)
 
I think I'll do a coat of 601/105 tomorrow instead, using a red LCD pad. Sounds ok?
 
Fuzion works well on light colors cause its pink so you can see it a little. And it looks AMAZING :)

Interesting concept, if I wasn't so flush with waxes already I'd at least give the smaller container a try.

Good luck my friend! :xyxthumbs: Okay, seriously try solvent or mineral spirit soak 15-30 minutes followed by a Dawn wash or two. I can't promise you will remove all of it though.

I think I saw something about dedicating the pad to 501, might be a good idea.
