It's just been hard to let go. My 2002 Hyundai Elantra with 406,000 miles is about to be picked up by the insurance company to be evaluated to see if it can be fixed. What do you think they'll say?

Stay tuned...

Start looking for another ride. The damage is going to exceed the value of the car.

I know the feeling. It was hard to let go of my trusted and reliable 2002 Corolla. It needed over $1,000 of repairs and it didn't make sense. Bought another new car instead but that Toyota was a favorite. I sold it for $100 to a neighbor who is going to fix it up himself. It looks like your Hyundai has seen better days. Good luck, and be safe. -Ed

sucks, that's some high mileage! ...you know...the new Genesis Coupe's are nice :)

That thing is toast for sure. Even the BMW looks like it is on the edge of being a loss.

I guess since your ride is totaled you're going to have to RunRun? (Couldn't resist it!!)

I am glad that you are doing ok. Sorry about the total loss of you car. The first thing that came to mind when I saw the mileage was the Seinfeld episode where Kramer is test driving a vehicle and trying to see how far he can go past the E.

It can be fix. My corrolla went thru so much accidents they had to cut the front off and weld in the whole front. So it can be fix but It's not worth fixing. Let it go. My corolla was a gift from a coworker because he want to deal with it anymore. We fixed it with junk yard parts and now it's works like new.

Go for that classic Ford Truck behind your wrecked car and first thing do an extreme makeover on the paint...

Yeah, and I'd be safer in it too. :xyxthumbs:

They are nice, fast, and come with about a 5 or 6 year payment too. LOL

Even the BMW looks like it is on the edge of being a loss.

I hit that guy right on his door and all he got was a scratch on his elbow. That thing is built like a tank. Im the MAN

Glad you're OK.

Insurance companies always deal in hard numbers. You can look up current value of a vehicle on kbb.com. It will give you both private sale figures and trade-in values in your area.

If the estimated repair hits about 80% of value, they'll total it. 80% figure is because they always expect more damage to be found once a vehicle is torn apart for the repair.

If you want a replacement, you should check out west. No rust! And, if you find a car you want, it will be a good reason to take a vacation!

Again, glad you're OK.

Best,
Jim
