get a credit card and use it ONLY for internet purchases. Make sure it has a great protection policy (ala AMEX) and keep in locked in a drawer or memorize and destroy. Works for me .....
Very good thinking. I think I will do that. Memorize and destroy.

As far as firewall - Norton Internet Security has it all - firewall, antivirus, antispyware. And it works well. I fully scan my PC (takes 1.5 hours) once a week - and no issues.

I've read plenty of online articles saying it's always good to have more then 1 spyware program, and a seperate firewall. There is no such thing as an all in one program it's kinda like detailing you get one products that designed to do one job and do it well. Because the program doesn't find it doesn't mean it's not there, down load spybot search and destroy (google it) and run run it and see what it finds. On my PC I have spybot search and destroy/Spyware blaster/Ad ware se/ewido anti-walware/Trend Micro pc-cillin antivirus. I updates them weekly and scan weekly what Adware SE misses Apybot Search and Destroy finds and removes. Ewido is an awesome anti-malware that works great and best of all they are all free programs ;) (minus Trend mico)

It scares my wife when she sees me order things online and punch in my credit card number, exp date, and cvn by memory, lol. I guess I get bored at work and buy stuff to pass the time :)

I think the most important thing in Internet Security (I'd say this for just about any kind of security issue) is to know where you are going.....
I dont run any Anti-virus, Spyware, or personal firewalls on my main PC. I just go to sites I know are legit. Im not DL'ing bit torrents or P2P music/software programs illegally. Just watch were you go....
Now, if you have kids, thats another story..... They go to all these "free" gaming and such sites usually.... spyware city!!!
Im going to guess that a LARGE portion of illegal CC charging are started with regular B&M stores like mentioned earlier in this thread. I know CC #'s have been hacked from a few sites, but if you are buying from legit places (AG, Amazon, buy.com, etc...) you shouldnt worry that much.
Ofcourse, I've gotten my share of ebay "verification" emails (scam!!). Just dont go to them.... All you need is "street smarts" on the web.

I can count on two hands the number of places we've used our credit card yet the number was stolen. We use it with a couple utiltities, PayPal, and a few legit places like Autogeek, Circuit City, etc.
