If you were limited to one company...

What do you guys think about Duragloss? Im a total newb and trying to research and assemble a nice kit for detailing my new car. Seems like Optimum and Meguiars are popular, should I just go with one of these lines?

I really use alot of Meguiars stuff. soap, cleaner, compound and polish. I suppose to be true to the thread i would have to say meguiars or griots. they are the only to companies that make everything.

otherwise i would likely say Pinnacle or Wolfgang or DP. They seem to all have a strong full line up of products. Ive used some poorboys stuff and wasnt really impressed. the SSR's just didnt do it for me.

I've been using Meguiars for about five years and love it, but this pinnacle stuff is starting to sway me...

Duragloss has made good products for many years and many people will say many are among the best for the buck. They are available both lonline at places like Autogeek and OTC. I suggest that you search the Duragloss threads for more info on Duragloss products.

I personally like the Optimum line, however I use products from other vendors such as Wolfgang, Megs, One Grand, Pinnacle, CG, Duragloss and many others. Sometimes it becomes a personal preference because it was the first thing that worked easily for well for you or someone told you it was the best. Been there, done that...

You might also want to check out the threads about building a first detailing kit or start a new thread instead of asking for help in this thread as your question is off topic. Hope this helps!

Even though they have a few losers , for the most part Meguiars has it covered. Maybe not the best in every category but near the top in most. Example - 105,205 , glass cleaner , UC , scratch-x , #40 , express wax , ultimate wipes and on and on.

Never heard or seen of "One Grand" products :dunno:

If I were limited to one company it would be Menzerna because of the variety of their products.

I saw in a post that Old Tiger said that if he was limited to 1 company it would be Optimum. I have to agree with him on that. They make amazing products.

I thought that was a really interesting concept. I would like to hear what others think on this one.

If you were limited to 1 company, what would it be?

as crazy as it sounds, in terms of chemicals, i pretty much use just optimum stuff right now...aside from the specialized niche stuff (black again, gummi pflege, mothers metal polish, etc.)

Weird question...are we talking just chemicals, or hardware and detailing accessories too..?..if we are (other than AG)....it would have to be Meguiar's. If we are just talking about chemicals, then I'd go with Optimum or Megs. The new Megs products look to be very promising. I'd be hard pressed to stick with one brand, so its a good thing this is a hypothetical.

If ALL your products had to be from one company Meguiars would be the clear winner IMO.

I think if you could only use products from 1 company I think 3M is the one

I started using their products around 10 years ago. Small, family-owned detailing product line based in Ventura, CA which is 20 minutes from me. Nice guys, overall a good line and I like to support family-owned, local businesses when I can.

Detailing products have have changed a bit over the past 10 years, so I have replaced several of them as mainstays. I still use their plastic polish and metal polish all the time as they work. There may be better products out there, but these work for me with little issue. Their plastic polish very quickly removes the haze from headlights and taillights. I use it on the black plastic trim on my older BMW to remove oxidation and make them black again. I also use their car wash, window cleaner and few other items, but mainly because I buy a gallon at a time and they last a year or more.

Since OG products are not available at AG, I'm going to stop here.

I like OPTI products, but recently have been pleased with the Finish Kare line, I've used 1000p, 425qder and just purchased 215 AIO and their car shampoo, FK seems to have a solid line-up.
