ok this is going to be a long post for me to make cause im burned, dehydrated, starving, and smelling like souveran paste....and i love it!:p

so monday night i get a message asking if i can do 2 full details the next day. i packed up all my supplies and drove down to do the first car yesterday(tuesday afternoon)
it was a white 2004 audi s4 and it was damn beautiful! i love working on cars that just make my jaw drop when i see them and this one did it.
washed with poorboys SSS and shmitt and bug squash where it was needed. i need to order more of that stuff, i love it!
moved on to the forged bbs wheels and stoptech brakes... P21s gel wheel cleaner and that one bendy brush, cant remember the name but the thing is incredible.... the brakes on this car were massive and it just slid right behind them and got every inch of the wheel. i was thoroughly impressed with the p21s wheel cleaner... i have used it before but its pricey so i use it sparingly...well it impressed me on this car and i will definately buy more of it for client cars. my wheels stay clean enough so i dont need it on that.

well then i pulled out the PC and edge pads. i used XMT3 on the yellow pad and followed with poorboys polish with sealant on an orange pad.... this combo worked great, the paint was so incredibly slick...that PWS is INCREDIBLE for slickness.

i coated the wheels with DP's wheel glaze and dressed the tires with the surf city tire pro stuff. this was exactly the look the owner wanted on his tires...not glossy, but clean and shiny. he also commented how the wheels looked brand new so the DP was doing its job for sure:applause:

i also applied the tire pro on my own tires a few days ago and its still holding up well.... its a very good looking product on the tires however i do have one gripe with it. well the packaging that is. i think this product would work much better with a spray top instead of the pop top thing. the product is so thin and pours out way too easy, so i just with i could spray it on my sponge...i think i might get a nozzle for it anyways because its a killer product and i think ill order some more of it because it seems this is the look the average client of mine would prefer. ive stated before i personally enjoy the glossy tire products but i realize most consumers dont want the high gloss tires. so A++ for surf city tire dressing

i also tried the chrome polish on my stromung exhaust tip and some of the audi's trim pieces... this is another great surf city product but again its very thin and i would prefer a different style top on the bottle... once you use the product you notice it works magnificently...but you might have to wipe half the bottle up off the ground if your not careful, its just easily spilled, i noticed

oh and the audi was topped off with souveran paste, and we all now how great that stuff is...just from doing the white audi the owner said a bunch of people should be calling me soon for details, including a modded AMG e55 mercedes. i guess his car was a whole lot better when i was done with it:D

ok then i packed up and left and went back this morning. the other car i needed to do was a 2004 or 2005 M45 infiniti, black. it was fairly swirled and a bit hazy but these guys have taken pretty good care of the vehicles. i was quite shocked when they said " we usually use the souveran"... then i noticed pinnacle bodywork shampoo in an autogeek wash bucket, and 3 tubs of souveran, along with some menzerna and other pinnacle products.... its always surprising when i client uses the good stuff and not store bought stuff

anyways, washed this the same way: poorboys SSS, bug squash, shmitt, p21s gel.... i also clayed during the wash.
started polishing with E2K pads again and xmt3 and PWS....tried a few different pads and none of them would fully remove the swirls but it looked much better so i just settled for orange and white pads respectively... remember this is a black car, and the garage was full of boxes. i was polishing under direct sunlight and i gotta admit i could hardly change my pads...then i noticed it looks like my pad was off center so i stopped and inspected the pad... then pulled it off and found this stuff gobbed up inside. i thought it was dried polish at first but thne i realized it was glue...and i looked at the pad more, the thing was coming apart. i really like the edge system but i dunno, i guess it was just too hot our for the pads? i pulled off the adapter and put on my old backing plate and used the spare pads i had brought on a whim...i never bring them but i thought to myself "just in case something happens to the adapter" well i lucked out this time... now i need to order more pads!
so i used the same products on the wheels and tires and topped it with souveran again... this thing was honestly a ##### to do in the sun...it had to be over 100 degress today and the car was black in direct sunlight, no covering at all....now add in the fact that once it was polished it looked like a mirror cause its black...so that sun was just goin straight to my face...im so burned and im already VERY tan!

now heres the sad part and i apologize butttttt....my cmera is for some reason not working....i dont know whats wrong, i tried every battery i could and charged them all last night but it wont stay on more than 30 seconds...which pissed me off cause these cars looked great! oh well, the owners said they would be sending me some pics so ill update if i can.

oh i also tried the surf city nano seal on the front of my car but ill do a full review later....i can say it has a nice look to it but it seemed tough to apply and remove... not like my arms are going to fall off kind of tough, but it was still tough none the less

ive got a couple other products i still need to try out as well... but im so beat right now....i gotta unload the car and eat and shower and sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep

Wow they had some AUtogeek supplies ey. I'm guessing they didn't have time to polish out the swirls n everything :p. That was a nice write up, I hope you get the pictures soon! Hope your burns get better soon, I hate being burnt! Not a great feeling at all :(.

ok so i have like 3 before pics but no afters yet...i should be seeing these guys on sunday but who knows how clean the cars will be then...hopefully they will take there own pics today

Thanks for the review Kelso. I enjoyed reading about the different products.

AND, now the "Governor" of California.:D :D :D

Kelso, thanks for the review!

We have seen a few posts, including yours, about Maximum Metal and our other polishes like Killer Chrome and Absolutely Aluminum – so some people like that the viscosity is on the thin side and some people don’t. Here's our two cents :D

For those that prefer a thicker polish, you can’t go wrong with Wolfgang Metallwerk Fine Aluminum and Wolfgang Metallwerk Concours Aluminum. These are both great and will produce outstanding results.

For those interested in a thinner one, here is what we do with the Surf City Garage polishes. You’ll need one pair of inexpensive latex gloves, Wolfgang finger pockets, yellow and green Edge Foam Tips, and a shallow container (believe it or not, the plastic top off a coffee can works great, but any clean shallow container will do). Then just follow these steps to achieve a very high gloss.

1) We shake Maximum Metal (or Killer Chrome or Absolutely Aluminum) vigorously for one whole minute (actually, you should do this with any polish—whichever manufacturer's you use---because all polishes separate quickly).
2) We pour out enough just to cover the bottom of the shallow container
3) We use the latex gloves and the Wolfgang Finger Pockets and dip the pockets into the polish until fully saturated. Then we apply the polish to the metal using a circular motion. You shouldn’t get any drip because the polish will be mostly in the saturated applicator.
4) Next, we tackle the intricate detail work of the nooks and crannies – anything hard to reach. We take yellow or green Edge Foam Tips, saturate them and apply. (You just can't have enough Edge Foam Tips!)
5) Last, we wipe everything off with high-quality MF.

NOTE: Whenever you need additional polish in your container, repeat vigorous shaking for one minute.

Happy detailing!

so i just cleaned my bmw and like i said i have the nano seal on the whole front end...beading like crazy! i need to polish my brothers audi and then im going to try the great barrier carnauba wax on that car soon so ill update when i get around to trying that

Surf City Garage is allowed to post on AG? Wow, must be some serious $$$ deals going on for that!

?? why would you say that? they are here to answer questions and comments about their products....they arent the only company on here. i know aaron from edge also posts occasionally.

Personally I believe ANY company should not be allowed to post in a forum as a company simply because they will promote their products.

But then again, other people who are not from that company often post about how great a product is because they are being paid to do so, so I guess theres no way around it, people on forums are going to try to sell you stuff.

I believe this is why Justin was banned from autopia ;)

well im not worried about it, i have already noticed surf city promoting non SC products so i can tell they seem to be more concerned with a proper detail rather than if they are earning their commissions. this isnt true for all companys so i see what you mean, but the posts ive noticed from SC have made me like that company more.

Ron231,

If you read the release on Surf City products, you will note it is a joint venture that the owner of PBMA aligned himself with and will be showing at SEMA this year. You might also note we have allowed other vendors like Poorboys and Edge (companies for which we offer their wares) to come on board not to sell or promote, but to answer questions on their product line as to how it was designed and best outcome. I truly believe our forum likes this advice and enjoys conversing with the actual manufacturer of said product directly.

I hope you will consider reducing these posts, there is simply a rule most of us learned long ago "If you cannot say something nice, then reserve yourself to saying nothing at all ".

We have a few manufacturers that participate on the board for product support. This is great asset to the board, to be able to get knowledgeable support from your favorite product manufacturer. Again this board is a bit different than others and we are always looking to improve it, and what’s better than to get your information from the people that make these products along with 1st hand experience from other detailers.

Well maybe its just me, but I just dont like to go on forums to hear people tell me about how great their products are. Of course they are going to say theirs are good, if you buy them it makes them money, and when I am on forums I do not want products pushed, I want to hear opinions from other detailers.

If I want manufacturer's opinions, I go on their website. If I need their help, I e-mail or call them.

I think that is a fair assessment, but I also think the masses prefer to see them hear answer the question or dispelling any problems or myths as possible. They should not be here simply to say "im the best" or "buy more of my product".

im a detailer. i gave my honest opinion of the products. the reason autogeek sent out samples was so detailers could come on and give their reviews, so it wouldnt just be the company pushing their products, its unbiased people(hopefully) giving true opinions on the products

For the record, justin30513 was banned due to a direct violation of the House Rules, commercialism specifically, not because he was a suspected shill or any other reason of that type.

He was given a formal warning, and proceeded to continue violating the rules.

Just wanted to set that straight.
Nope It was made very clear but thanks for trying. Justin I hope you don't mind if so LKM and I'll remove.
