I'm hoping it's not CC failure.

I didn't since the car was given to me in this condition.

I was not going to go to Oreily's get a clay bar kit for $20 or go find somewhere that sold clay.

I just got the rubbing compound and. MF towel did a little light session of rubbing and noticed it was coming off. So then i just went ahead and proceeded to remove the rest. (I doubt I even removed any CC since it was a real light rub)

Was easy and cost me $0.00 and about 5 minutes.

It was more knowledge and technique in the end.

My friend I hope you realize that you cannot be lazy when detailing. Things must be done a certain way and more importantly the correct way. I am amazed that you want to run your own business when all you have done is make statements like this. How can you expect to perform "paint restorations" if you refuse to take even the basic steps such as 1. Researching what the problem might be and 2. Using the least aggressive method possible first.

Time and time again ive read other peoples posts to your topics and it always boils down to getting rid of bad habits from your old body shop ways. Kick that habit of saying to yourself "hmmm should I spend $20 and try to actually take care of my paint or should I go just hit it with any ol' compound and see where that gets me?" and develop a system to solve problems like this.

I hear you, may I ask what you would have done in this case it were a customer's car?

Most certainly.

I would have first made sure the surface was clean. A quick detail spray with a plush MF towel will do if its not too dirty. After that inspect the surface with your eye and see if you notice any speckles, scratches or anything that looks out of place on the paint. Overspray you can normally see so that would mean get out your least aggressive clay with a good lube and proceed to clay the area, testing it with either a small sandwich baggie or your own hand. If the clay picks up contaminants but does not remove what you see, step up the aggressiveness of the clay until it is gone.

If clay wont remove it, a paint cleaner with non abrasives could be used next. If that wont remove it a light polish would be tried, then a medium. Again if that doesnt work you would move up to something more aggressive such as a compound. Theres other steps as well but overspray is typically taken care of with clay so the other steps are not needed. Im sure there are special cases where something might be imbedded in the paint but generally you wouldnt need anything more than clay to get overspray.

Thank you, i did everything minus starting with the least aggressive method. (Which I should have)

I went from cleaning the area, straight to compound. I knew the compound wasn't going to do anything to my car because I have done it many times.

But this fits perfectly into how you guys keep telling me to stop working like an auto body detailer and more like a true auto detailer. I am trying to break those habits as much as I can. I do do the 2 bucket method now.

The other day I was washing my car and right from the beginning I told myself. Man this isn't how the guys on the forum would detail their own car let alone customer cars. Little by little I an learning how actual detailers do it.

Thank you

so today I went to a mall in Texas, you know the one by Texarkana? Well my son goes to school there. Anyways I was needed to buy some new shoes because mines were wearing out, I had them maybe for 8 years going, so the wife said to replace them. Anyways while I was on my way there I noticed they had a sale on backpacks. I saw a sponge bob one, like this http://www.cutesense.com/cutesense/product/01998/enlarge/Spongebob_Backpack_1.jpg and I thought my nephew might like it. Then after I thought about it he just got a new back pack last week so I said nevermind. After I tried on some new shoes I was hungry so I went to the food court. One of the workers was giving samples of chicken... Well on my way home I went to jamba juice and got a coldbuster smoothie...it was pretty good but I think they put too much orange juice in it..

btw here is a picture of godzilla http://www.inquisitr.com/wp-content/2013/03/Godzilla-Remake.jpg
