I was considering getting McKees coating while on their 25% off no minimum sale. But I have a variety of good sealants and feel that I should use them up. I'm a hobbyist and do friends and families cars. I just hate to waste stuff. What to do??

It happens to a lot of us, driveway detailers, semi professional and full time guys. Always wanting to try new stuff or the ooooh a sale bug hits.

God help us all. Don't do it! I was just posting the other day I'm about to break into a gallon of car wash I bought in 2005. That's not to say that I haven't bought wash after that that I have used up, but it's saying I still have wash that I bought that long ago that I haven't opened yet. And I still have more wash to go through after that. I actually felt like I was on a path to winnowing down my stock of conventional and rinseless washes...and then they had that CarPro sale last year where they were selling 5l Ech2O for less than the 4l, so I bought that and a bottle of Reset for good measure...good grief what was I thinking!

Use up your sealants first, or sell them or give them away if you have friends/family that wax their cars. I am completely serious that I have wondered whether I'll be able to use up all my detailing supplies that I have right now (most of which were purchased after joining detailing forums starting in 2004) before I die.

What u need I got everything 🤣

Yup. I'm at the same point. I have so many products just for my two vehicles. Pretty much everything I ever wanted to try.

There is this guy from SoCal that keeps sending me samples though.................... ;)

Sometimes it feels like an addict's rationalizations...or like in Animal House with the angel and the devil on Pinto's shoulders:

Me: I've got enough tire dressing to last for years, I shouldn't buy any more until I use up what I have.
Devil: Here's this thread about TW tire coating...they say it's really good and it's cheap!
Angel: You already decided you don't need any more tire dressings
Devil: But this isn't a dressing, it's a COATING
Angel: But still, it's a tire appearance product, you have plenty of that
Devil: But this lasts SO much longer than a dressing
Angel: Who cares? You have plenty of dressing, just put it on more often
Me: But on the backs of the tires, I only dress them when I rotate, and it would be so much easier to clean
them if the dressing lasted longer
Devil: That's a great idea!
Angel: You don't need any more tire appearance products!
Devil: But they stopped making the TW, if you don't buy it now you'll never be able to get it!
Me: They did?? I'd better order some...
Angel: But you have tons of tire dressings!
Me: But they aren't coatings! Can't you see I need this!? (clicking order button)

That's how I wound up with the Ech2O and the Reset, I rationalized to myself, even though I have tons of conventional, rinseless, and waterless washes, I didn't have any SiO2-enhanced washes or stripping washes, so I NEEDED these...

I’m 36 years old and I highly doubt I’ll finish my stash before I die... and that includes almost any type of detailing category of product you can name (LSP, spray waxes, QDs, car wash, WW, RW, tires, wheels, interior protectant, leather, APC, pad cleaner, Iron decon, what have I done?, ooooh IGL Premiere is on sale I better get some).

Lol hi, my name is Leo and I'm addicted to auto detailing products!

The joke between my dad and I is that our great grandchildren won't have to buy detailing products since we have so much. My dad even has a collection of products from the 80s.

It is sickness that I am proud to have!

i use to be like that with microfiber towels back in the day and realized that it was a waste of money. you don't need a bunch of different microfiber towels for every little task. simplify and keep it simple and you won't go broke, especially when products start sitting on the shelf collecting dust, and that relates to other detailing products as well....

I have a coating and a few toppers waiting to go on. Why then did I buy some Dr Beasley’s plasma coat and advanced coat gloss cuz it was on sale. I have a bottle of car pros CQUK3 waiting to go on but for some reason 25% of off 22ple is calling my name. I have Reload, then bought a gallon of shine supply Clutch, then A 500ml bottle of cosmic spritz (yet to be opened). Why am I thinking I need to order some overcoat. I’m 42 for gods sake too late in life to be picking up addictions.

Let’s agree to disagree. LOL

I hear you, that's why I disappear from here every now and then. I also give away some products, use them at home and use in family/friends cars.

With affordable cermaic coatings and advanced sealants, most stuff is obsolete to me. I've been using all my quick detailers around the home to clean appliances lol.

I often buy product and not get a chance to use them because of time. For example, I purchased some powerlock last year, but I never got a chance to apply it to my car because of work and kids. Winter comes and now I have to wait until spring or at least until it gets warmer.
