Greetings all. I've been following the advice of the outstanding professionals on this site and "of-course" picked up a few items from Autogeek, Mr. Garry Dean, and Chemical Guys. I own an '09 G37xS sedan and a 2012 Durango R/T. Thanks for letting me join your site and I look forward to interfacing with you all as I build my detailing skillset.

My dilemma:

Polishing the G37 turned out great but polishing my Durango left me with light holograms. My process was:

1. Thorough wash and clay then wash again
2. M105 and orange hexlogic pad with PC @ speed 5 on test spot
3. M205 and white hexlogic pad with PC @ speed 5 on test spot. (Test spot on hood turned out great)
4. Performed steps 2-3 on rest of vehicle and I have holograms on the doors. Went over test hologram spot with M205 and white hexlogic pad again to see if I could get better results; NEGATIVE. I need help.

Feed back please

The Durango is black with specs and looks pretty good but walking by and seeing the holograms is killing me. My girl laughs at me because the Infiniti she drives looks GREAT. It was extremely hard to capture the holograms with photos but better with video. Unfortunately I can't upload video.

I'm not familiar with the Hexlogic pads...I use Lake Country Flat pads and I have had no issues...I even use the same M-105 and M-205 as you are using....no issues with the Flat Pads...I have a couple of scratches that I need to clean up on my F-150...I'll post them in a day or two...In answer to your question...Look at your pad and your technique.

remember to reduce the speed on your D/A after the first pass (up and down and side to side then start reducing speed to 4 the same steps and then lower).

All,
Thanks for the warm welcome and to cutter thanks for the advice. I may switch to the flat pad(s). I've been attempting to follow the technique of no more than 15 pounds of pressure including the weight of the PC at speed 5 and reducing the pressure after about the first 3 passes. I have not tried reducing the speed after the first pass as I thought passing at speed five the whole time would suffice. I'll give that a try. This hologram thing is bothersome. Not to mention I was struck by another car this past weekend. I'm curious to see how the repair job is. I'm sure I'll be going over the repair with at least 205. Anyway, I'm getting long winded. I look forward to chatting with you all again in the near future.
