IMO Best Looking Red out there now....

Spesking of paint, not sure which year they made a switch, but there's Soul Red and then came Soul Red II, I'm thinking yours is the latter

Soul Red II came out for 2020MY so 2019 production date.

I agree with everyone else across the board- as far as OE candy paints on major production vehicles- Mazda's Soul Red is definitely the cream of the crop!!! The only downside is when/if it comes time for collision repair- it is an absolute nightmare of a color/paint process when it comes time for the refinishing process- Soul Red II takes it a step further as it is now a 4-stage paint finish (along with one of Mazda's newer grays that they have).

Soul Red Crystal and the new red on Infiniti Q60 are by far the best reds out there. Pictures just do not do the color justice, it is so rich and deep in person.

Just to chime in,

When I read the title of this thread I chose to >click< on the thread and read it to see what your opinion was for best looking red paint.

Without knowing you choose Mazda, this is what I was going to say. The Mazda gets my vote. The Mazda Soul Red Crystal Metallic looks like CANDY APPLE paint. Freaking incredible looking color.

I detailed a Mazda SUV with this color paint for local car guy, Jim Serra, can't remember if I did a write-up or not?

:)

When I was working for Mazda a few year back they came in and showed us how the make this and the Machine Gray. Basically its a easier to manufacture candy like you said. Silver Metallic base coat with translucent color coat and then clear. There's a huge difference between Soul Red and Soul Red Crystal.

Yeah, I've read up a lot on it. Our 2018 is Soul Red Crystal Metallic. From what they show, the new Crystal Metallic has 20-percent greater color saturation and 50-percent more depth than its predecessor Just Soul Red. It's described as the newer Soul Red Crystal adds another level of vividness and that to achieve this new paint, a new process was necessary.

Overall my wife really likes the color and it is pretty cool in the sunlight.

I have always been partial to Ford’s Ruby Red, but that Mazda Soul Red Metallic is enchanting.

I am thinking of adding the XCE to my collection but was worried how it would finish down on Mazda paint. I will be working on my wife's and daughters cars which are a Mazda CX5 and CX30. I was set on the XCE but heard stories that its is not ideal on soft paint and can leave hazing. My process normally is to use Sonax Perfect Finish followed by a sealant. How did you find the XCE on the softer Mazda paint?

Works just fine. I don't agree with the mindset that forced rotations don't finish out nicely. I've been doing this for years and lots of pure black cars including soft paint proves that wrong. The product is key and next up the pad. If you REALLY want a super gloss finish, swap over to a CarPro Gloss pad, load up some CarPro Essence and drop the speed to 4-5 and go slow.

Overall though, I didn't even do that on my wife's Mazda. Wasn't necessary. You'll really enjoy the polisher for sure.

Well, I agree with the incredible look of that Soul Red Crystal, very impressive in person. But it seems that there is trouble in River City with this paint being so very prone to chipping.

Perhaps but I've owned several Mazda vehicles and they've always been known to have thin paint. Online the most problems with Soul are over seas it seems. Needless to say, this is why my buddy and I installed Premium Shield Elite PPF on ours.

All cuts are custom. Never any templates used here. Entire front end is solid, no seams here.

Edges are always rolled. Again, no edges or seems showing.

I LOVE the extra crisp clarity of not just this brand of film but also my friend Julious who has been doing PPF for nearly 30 years has his own crystal clear formulation of activator he sprays on. Far better than the typical soap and IPA mixes others use.

Entire hood is protected. Not yet wiped down and coated though

Even the bikini cut on the fenders is nearly invisible.

Stunning color and wonderful job!

On my last few cars and currently on my CX-5, I have a protective film (XPEL) applied to the hood, front fenders, A columns, door handle cups, back plate of trunk mirrors and front part of hood. Got it done at Detailer's Domain. Phil and crew always do a great job. To me, with the crappy roads around here, it's a worthy investment. But of course as luck would have it, as I was driving home from NYC, another car zipped by and sent a good sized rock into my door! Dime size dent down to bare metal. Got it fixed locally with a dent repair shop.
