This is 1 of 50 Individual BMW E38 740i's in North America that is rendered in Imola Red. It's a two owner car. The original owner was a BMW representative who drove around clients in it. The second owner (my father) purchased it back in '04 with right about 40k miles on it and now has 99k miles. The paint is in very good shape. We have always used quality products to take care of our vehicles so it was swirled but not horribly swirled. Back in the day the two bucket wash method and foam canons weren't exactly around yet lol. Anyways on to the correction process.

Products used:
Two bucket wash method using a mix Griots Garage Car Wash Soap and Chemical Guys Foam Canon Soap.
Foam Canon Pre-wash
No Claying was necessary. (The car is hardly driven anymore).
Griots Garage Heavy Duty Wheel Cleaner
Flex 3401
Lake Country Orange Cutting Pads
Griots Garage Fast Correcting Cream. (First time using it and loved it!)
Lake Country White Polishing Pads
Meguires M205
And finished it off in synthetic wax.

All done and in the sun walk around:

FLEX 3410 w/ LC Flat Pads (not Thin Pros)? Nicely done. Nice to see Flex work with the 'standard' LC Flat Pads. Snatched a 3401 recently, still working thru 'What pads to use'?

Beautiful!

Wow, that car looks really good. I have never seen a red 7 series...of any generation.

Until the new G11 7 Series hit the market, I always thought the E38 was the best looking 7 series generation on the road. Despite it's age, the car still looks really good. A very timeless and elegant design.

Thank you. I used the 6.5" LC light cutting pad.

Nice work!!

Thank you!

Nicely done! That Imola Red looks amazing!

Thank you! One of my favorite reds.

Beautiful! Love the color.

Thank you!

Thank you! Completely agree tho I don't think this body style can be topped lol.

Still the best 7 series!! Great looking car, I'm glad its owned by someone that appreciates it. An E38 with sport package is on my list of dream cars!

Very nice ride, great job!

Question though- what product(s) did you use to dress the exterior window trim and b-pillars? Do you have success with them?

I have an E39 and every product (Blackfire trim sealant, Duragloss 271, Meguiars Ultimate products, etc.) I have tried to dress the plastic exterior trim & b-pillars with comes out looking absolutely terrible (i.e. greasy, non-uniform coverage, streaky). Thinking of trying a paint sealant or wax next.

I tried using Griot's Exterior trim restorer but had the same issues you are having... I'm going to coat them with a real trim coating to bring them back to new again.

Edit: Unless you are talking about the black rub strips on the doors and bumpers?? We had those sanded, primed, painted, and cleared in gloss black. No more worries about diminishing color.

Stunning! I loves me an Imola Red BMW. Not sure which red is my favorite...Porsche Guards Red or BMW's Imola. Right now I'm going Imola!

Great "after" video too but it looks like you forgot to dry it!
