Impressed with Pinnacle Crystal Mist

I rarely post up anything on how a product impresses me because, quite frankly, everything AG sells that i have bought impresses me. Plus the fact that those posts usually yield replys from those who also use that particular product and those that don't use it aren't usually interested. However...

I have been using Blackfire Wet Diamond as my LSP on my black BMW for maybe a year now. Migrated over from Zaino and have never looked back. I was recently going through some of my older products to either use up first before ordering new or just plain trashing if too old. I came across an unopened, unused bottle of Pinnacle Crystal Mist quick detailer. I have been using FK425 after every weekly wash but broke out the Pinnacle spray detailer to try out. WOW!!! I just recently completed a full correction on the paint from scratch, wash, Iron X, Nanoskin "rub", one step cut/polish (extremely minimal defects) followed by 2 X BFWD seperated by 20 hours to cure. I just did the first "post correction" wash yesterday and grabbed the Pinnacle Quick Detailer. Unbelievable shine by this stuff and blew everything i have been using in the past out of the park. I guess you would consider it a hybrid type as it has both crystalline ploymers and carnauba elements. That stuff is and looks incredibally amazing. Maybe a bit pricey at about $30 but worth every penny in my book.

I just switch back to Crystal Mist myself from fk425 and 303 detailer, A Wolfgang detailer free sample. There are a lot of good detail sprays out there I think I will stay with CM for a while. It's cheaper if you buy by the gallon

I was also very impressed with Crystal Mist Detailer the first times I used it. Nice slick feel, works right now, easy, no streaking, hazing, nada.

And the look is very nice indeed. First time I used it, it was over WGDGPS 3.0 a couple weeks later and it was quite a wow!

Out of 40+ years playing with detailing sprays, I'd have to rank it in the all time top 2.

#1 was a product made by a small Chicago wax factory, now long gone, and another I liked many years ago, but haven't seen this one in a long long time, was Slick Stuff, I think from a company once called the Wax Factory.


Yes, a little pricey, but head and shoulders over others I've tried over more recent years.

Duragloss makes a nice working spray detailer product too, less expensive yes, but IMO does not anywhere near equal Crystal Mist Spray in looks.

I just searched for Slick Stuff as you piqued my interest. Seems it has simply been replaced by the same thing by the same company called VIP Spray Detail. I don't want to talk too loudly about it here (not an AG product offering) but it is on the internet.

The last bottle of Slick Stuff I ever got my hands on, the formulation appeared to have changed.

Was like a totally different product, might as well be spraying water on the vehicle, and about the equivalent of the red bottle Megs, bur for more money.

Never had the desire after that to seek it out again.

Crystal Mist is a really good product, and yes, I wouldn't mind having a large jug on hand myself!

I thought the car really looked killer after the correction and WGDGPS 3.0 but after the crystal mist, paint was really looking like a dripping wet candy apple.

Ahh, ok, gotcha. Sorry to hear something you really liked isn't around anymore but sounds like we both like Crystal Mist. That paint on the Spectra looks awesome. And i have always liked that color after detailing. :dblthumb2:

And I'm far from being expert at capturing gloss and shine on a vehicle. Often outdoor lighting is difficult, washes out detail.

About the only other current product which many like, and I do too a lot, and which may not be specifically called a detailer but can easily be used as one is Duragloss Aquawax.

While Duragloss does make a specific detailer spray, the Aquawax seems a little more able in regards to producing gloss, and probably lasts longer too than than their specific detailer spray.

So many OTC detailer sprays are gone after a wash, but Crystal Mist, and Aquawax seem to hang around awhile.
