In your humble opinions, which product line gives the best shine?

The reason I am asking is because I am new to detailing and just got a rather new 2004 Honda Accord V6. The paint is pretty much flawless except for a few light scratches around the rear passenger side door handle.

I just bought a PC 7336-SP (no pads yet) from the local Lowes. Previously, I bought the Zaino Ultimate Show Car Kit from Zaino Bros. and did the car by hand. I love the results and have learned that Zaino (pro) stuff is highly regarded on all the forums I have been to.

However, being new to detailing (I started out with Turtle Wax lol!), I would like you guy's opinions on if there is a product line or combination of different products that produce a similiar or better shine than the Zaino system. My car is a dark "sparkly" red. (Sorry, sparkly red is the best way I can describe it lol!)

I have heard a lot of good things about Souveran, Klasse, Natty's, Meg's, and a few others. I am still learning some backgrond info on these other products but still would like for you guys to chime in on this.

BTW: I know this is a highly subjective question, however, I still would like you guys opinions.

On dark colors, Souveran and Natty's Blue are top notch. Extremely wet and deep:righton:. Can't go wrong with either. Personally I associate "shine" more so with sealents like EX-P, DP, WGDS etc. Carnaubas give a warm, deep look. So do a combo, something like EX-P topped with Natty's Blue or Souveran etc.

Man, that Pinnacle Souveran is SOOOOO Expensive. Natty's is just as good?

Also, how do people that have used Zaino and Souveran compare the two?
 
For the most bang for your buck, go with the Poorboys line or the Detailers Pride line. Both give amazing results and they won't break the bank.
 
Agree with Excessive Detail.. Its the path I went down (DP and PB)....

Ofcourse, asking how Souveran compares to Zaino is like cursing at some of us here... :-)

(I used to be a Zaino-ite myself).... That was ofcourse, pre- "Pro" versions....

The main thing to remember is prep (swirl, scratch, imperfection removal). Prep contributes to the majority of your paint shine. A wax or sealant adds protection and an extra "pop" to the paint.

You state that the car is flawless, no offense but, unless it's been washed, dried and maintained properly over the past 2 years, I'm sure you'll see a fair share of spiderwebbing under proper lighting. Remove those and I'm sure you'll be amazed at the difference in the paint.

Zaino is a good sealant, I had good luck with it about 4 years ago before they changed the formula. Since they changed it (the Zpro line) no matter how thin I put it on or how long I let it cure I get nothing but streaks. Not worth the effort for me....I personally think there are better products available for the money. I still love their leather conditioner though;)

Don't forget about Liquid Souveran it's a great wax too...one of the slickest waxes I've used.

Souveran give a warm glow to the paint that Zaino can't come close to doing.

You can't go wrong with Poorboys either...Here is a MDX, about the same color as yours, after Poorboys SSR line, EX-P and Natty's.

Does souveran look good on light colored cars, mines white without any metallic or pearl, just plain white. That is going to be my next purchase from ag.

Honestly, I've tried it froma buddies stash and even on his black M5 and another friends lemans blue M5, none of us could really tell a difference. Souv looked barely a tad warmer and NB seemed barely a tad crisper if that makes sense lol. NB is very easy to use, but Souv does have the edge there, it goes on and off like butter as you'll see plenty of people posting on here.

For the price of NB you cannot go wrong. NB did mute the flakes slightly on one of our Silver vehicles but the silver took on a nice dark/deep wet look to it.

Either way, use a good sealent like EX-P (my personal fave), or DP, WGDG etc, and top witha nubda like Souveran, NB and you'll have a gorgeous look on that red.
 
I agree with Surfer on alot of his points....

Its kinda like "audiophiles".. They buy $1000+ speakers and super high end receivers for their music rooms... while most people listen to music on their undercabinet mount system in their kitchen and are happy....
It all depends "where you are".... If you are a Daily Driver and want the car to stay looking nice and clean, then stay with the DP, PB line....
If you have a C6, stang, high end import, old show car, etc and are fanatical about your wax.. then Souv is your wax.
Im more "bang for your buck" kinda guy. Natty's Blue and DP Max Wax are excellent waxes for your $$. Especially when gotten onsale.... Id say almost no "common folk" will be able to tell the difference, and I bet only a handful of the "audiophile types" will be able to tell either.....

The complete XMT lineup and a jar of Max Wax. You can get them all for what a jar of Souv will put you back. I'm posting a 300C that I did today with this combo in a few.

Souveran offers more depth and wetness than Nattys. It also is much easier to apply and remove. At about 30 applications per jar, thats less than 2.00 per coat. Whats a cup of Starbucks cost ??

As for Zaino versus Souveran ... its a hard take. Souveran is a carnauba with depth and wetness unequaled by any product. Zaino has come along way from the plastic wrap look it once offered. It has alot of gloss and reflectivity. What it offers is durability, and thats why its track record is polished. I dont know of many that ever get to a products end ....most of us detail far to often to worry. I will say that I dont see birdie doo-doo etching while using carnauba but have seen it more than once while using that "other" famous product.

If you like Zaino .... try Duragloss. Bet you will find it extremely similar in look and outcome. Little cheaper too .....
 
Ankhenaton--I don't know how extensively you've prowled the autogeek online store, but in case you missed and you really want to try Souveran (I do!!) at a great value , then here http://www.autogeek.net/pinnacle-souveran-intro-kit.html is the Souveran starter kit. In addition to the paste wax you get the quick detail spray mist, some microtowel rejuvenator wash, a few microfiber towels, coupla applicators, etc. Can't beat that.

Just FYI.

I'm ordering mine tomorrow. :D

Being an "audiophile" myself, I gotta agree. It's the proverbial 80/20 rule. 20% of the cost will get you 80% of what you want. But it costs 80% to get that last 20. Souveran will get you that last 20, but at a cost. It really does depend on what you're looking for.

Some very good advice in this thread (I liked the audiophile analogy).

Prep (as was stated) is crucial and the LSP is the icing on the cake...some like chocolate, some coconut, some vanilla...I still like the carnauba look and top my sealants with either Maxwax, Souveran, or Natty's....it's all good. Justin's work is awesome and he advised the XMT line and Maxwax...excellent choice.....they perform great and are easy to use.
 
I am a Zaino User... I have Not Tryed Souveran before, but i have heard that it is not all that great on light colors... and well i have a white truck... however the Zaino i couldnt be happier... in the summer time this stuff last me up to 8 months with 1 coat of Z5 and 1 coat of Z2. Havent tested it in winter. My grandpa uses this on his black lexus, which is why i started using it, my grandpa ALWAYS has the cleanest car on the street...besides for me...lol. i am thinking of ordering some souveran and going half Zaino and Half Souveran on my moms 02 Harley truck that is just beat to crap.
 
I was once a "Zaino-ite" and while I loved the product, IMO nothing compares to Souveran for that deep wet look....
 
Like everyone else say its really subjective and its all in the PREP. I prefer the Zaino line.
 
It is all about prep. All a true wax will do is enhance imperfections if you do not remove them. It's like studying for a test. Take your time and study and you'll make the grade....don't and wait till the last minute and you're screwed.
 
Can Souveran, Natty's, and Poor Boys be applied and removed with a PC?

Also, what is "LSP"???

And geez, sorry for my wallet lol! This place is gonna break me lol!
