Incredibly Cheap Finds

So while were talking about samsclub towels. These are the ones that the previous post mentioned. $13 for 36 I think. They're new. They are nice and have a decent nap. They did pass the cd scratch test I did, but they're not perfect that's for sure. They're my current rinseless wash towels. I usually follow with a cleaner wax on a white lake country pad if I use these. No extra steps but it helps me believe that I'm not marring.

All of that is great, but this is something I wanted to show. The towel is flat, the fibers are in a straight line. This towel has been washed but it came like this. Not high quality in the cut or whatever you want to call this ha.

This is when I put the corner together. It doesn't work.

Just something else to consider when buying cheaper microfiber. I'm sure it doesn't bother some...

Not all are cut like this. Probably 4 in the whole pack.

I can't live without my pump sprayers. Either hand held or larger ones. If I'm just doing a rinseless wash and don't get out hose or pw, I can presoak the car with onr in my 2 gallon round up sprayer pretty easy.
Now I wish I had taken advantage of that deal. I have one of those for insecticide, so I didn't think I needed another.

I picked up some purple power and put it in a Walmart like 80 cent spray bottle and the thing didn't even last 2 minutes before it broke. Either the bottles cheap or purple power totally destroyed the thing, or both lol

There is a surprising difference in quality of spray bottles. The Zep 32 oz Professional Sprayer is all I use anymore. They have a solid trigger, plenty of force without making you strain, and they don't leak. You can get them at most Lowe's or Home Depots. I've only had one trigger fail, and that was because it sat half full of a 1:4 solution of Meguiars D140 Wheel Brightener from last fall until 2 days ago. And it might be repairable; I haven't tried yet.

Haha I have a few that fold exactly like that. It helps with some jobs to have it fold nicely. But I'm not super picky, especially since most products will soak through before you can use all 8 available surfaces.

I do want to check them out though. Getting these for less gentle tasks would save money for some nice compound removal towels.

Another cheaper brand worth checking out is Viking. They carry them at O'Reilly Auto Parts, and they're made here in St. Louis, not that I'm biased or anything. They've got some neat little cleaning tools, and it looks like they just came out with some more for the new season.

There's a large pack of cheap MFs at Advance Auto, but I can't find it anywhere online. I don't know the brand so I couldn't tell you if they are Autocraft like most of AAP's towels. I think it's like a 30 pack, they're yellow, and I think the price was somewhere around $16-20. Do you know what I'm talking about? Have you had a chance to use them yet?

Speaking of which, these are the MFs I passed on because of the linting. Maybe I should have given them a chance; they could have been fine after a couple washes. The green/orange pack from Target linted extremely bad when I shook them, but I have actually heard good things about them, so ya never know.

Also, have you tried Zwipes? They always have really good deals on Amazon.

I have been using the Sam's MF for almost 2 years now. I have them in 3 different colors: Orange for rims & engine, green for interior, and blue for glass. I use my Meg's and some others I bought from AG when I compound, polish, & wax. The Sam's ones have been great for what I use them for, and they are cheap too. My Sam's usually puts them back on the shelves in late February early March, and I buy a new pack of each color every year. I just went last week and got 3 new packs, 1 of each color except for the yellow.

Anybody here ever use AutoGlym products?

I bought a gallon of Invisible Glass for $3.99 at Marc's. A local food/drug chain in North-east Ohio.....Cleveland-Akron area.

Those cheap sprayers at Walmart are hot smoking garbage. I went and bought like 8 of them. One by one they're dropping like flies.

I think that's the stuff that goes in your windshield wiper reservoir. I think i've seen that before but I may be wrong. Too bad we don't have a Marcs around here

After reading the directions...your correct! "Use in your washer reservoir".
It also says it gives a streak free shine. I'll try it as a glass cleaner first.

we have a salvage place here that takes old things that stores (target walmart) have given up on, or even fire/water damaged items and one of them had a few gallons of that, but it was in a fire, and the sprinklers came on, the labels were hard to read.

That's the only time I've ever seen that stuff.

Not a bad price I guess. I usually use ONR in water, but I'm a tightwad. It freezes though, so in MS I have to use the blue crap in the winter months.

Dirt Cheap or Treasure Hunt??? lol

I know that you and I have been going back and forth on the Target clearance stuff, and I stopped by a different one down here tonight. They had the Megs White Wax for $1.42. I bought the rest that they had, 8 tubes. They also had the Invisible Glass tools down to $5.38. I bought 2 more of them. They had a few other things there too, but I had my 4 year old with me, so I was beyond ready to go!

Meijer on Rt 59 & 135th Street in Plainfield IL has Meguiar's Brake Dust Barrier for $2.50 a can. There were 4 available last night about 10:30. I only bought one since my can at home is nearly full.

Here Dirt Cheap is a liquor store chain with hilariously awful commercials. I don't think they have detailing products.

Ours usually doesn't have anything detailing related. The one here is wayyy overpriced compared to the one I had in college. Here they double their prices and start at half off... Go down by 10% each week. Crap.

I remember those commercials. Was it a guy dressed up in a chicken costume? I know I remember the "cheap cheap!" Maybe even "cheep cheep fun fun!"

Spent a lot of time up there.

The Dirt Cheap and Treasure Hunt stores down here are closeout stores. They buy returns from Wal Mart, Target, KMart, etc. If a store catches on fire, gets water damage, or simply closes down, Dirt Cheap will buy all the stuff and sell it cheap. You can get good deals. The only bad thing is that there are no returns. Once you buy, you are stuck. I have got some sweet deals at the one near me, but its always hit or miss. Every other Monday at the one near me, they take the stuff that is 90% off, fill up buggies with it, and sell the buggies for $10. I bought an electronics buggy one time for $10, kept some stuff out of it (HDMI Cables, Wii, PS3, XBox 360 games, memory cards, etc), and sold the rest on ebay and Craigslist. Ended up making around $450.00 off the stuff I sold. :dblthumb2:
