Incredibly Cheap Finds

Picked up 3 of the Aquapels at O'Reilly's for under $10. Thanks for the heads up.

I have 2 set aside for me the ones here came missing without the backing plates, the thing is these were purchased essentially as wholesale buyout.. Would Meg's send the backing plates that are missing to Ollie's or were they purchased cheaply because they were missing the backing plates

Interesting. That might be the issue my local Ollie's was having also. From the sound of it I assume they are insisting the backing plate (or other missing part) must be shipped to them before they will sell them to customers. For $20 I still think they're a steal even if you have to buy a backing plate separately... Let me know how you like them if you get them up and running.

Good question, I haven't opened my boxes yet. Gotta check. Ref the spray gun....vvv

No problem, got it right here at AG. Look under Optimum Poly Technology, spray gun. Cheaper than 175. I use PB Bold and Bright neat. Thing about the Optimum gun is you can adjust the spray to your liking.

Gotcha, I have seen that before but was curious how even the pattern was. Do you find yourself wiping overspray off the wheels or have you gotten pretty consistent with it?

Lowes has a greenworks 1500psi 1.3gpm electric pressure washer for 59.99 today only. They have a 10 off 50 coupon that can be found at slickdeals or some creative googling. If i can post links I will. Just don't want to break the rules. Not available in store, but if someone wanted something just a little more powerful than a garden hose then this is not bad at all for $50+tax. Warning: you will buy a more powerful one later ha. But you can't beat this price.

No overspray....but the reason is I measured my rim diameter and took a large cardboard box drew a circle to match the measurement and cut it out. Attached a makeshift handle with 550 cord and hold it or set it on the wheel when I spray. The sprayer is adjustable enough to control how much comes out. It usually takes me about 2 times around to cover enough. Then I just use my AF blaster to push any wet build up around and dry. Only cause I want instant dry.

Ref Megs kit from Ollie's...no backing plates. Just ordered one. Cant use 2 tools at one time so figured one was enough.

The promotion already ended..it was 89.99 for 6 in...

Okay, that sounds like a fast and easy way to get the job done. I hate trying to dress tires with deep "ridges" in the sidewalls using a foam block. I know others have used brushes to do this with success but I might just skip that and pick up a cheap spray gun. Regarding the cardboard that's a good idea. I saw a plastic dish type that you could get before but you would have to have several different diameters on hand in order to sufficiently be prepared. The cost of them was high IMO but making them out of sturdy cardboard would be a very cheap and effective way. Thanks for the info.

I'll have to give my Ollie's a call this week and see if they have an update. If they can't get the backing plates I'll just buy them and get the backing plate here. For less than $50 they are still very affordable.
In case you didn't find the backing plate here's the link to the AG store.

Welcome. Tip....if you decide to make your own out of cardboard, go around the edges with 100MPH tape. That way when you miss the tire the wet won't soften the cardboard. Me I just taped the entire thing. Got the backing plate from another source but thanks for the link.

Good idea and thanks for the tip. Best of luck with your Meg's polisher. Let us know how you like it.

My local lowes has 4 bottles of Megs NXT liquid wax. Online it doesnt show, but the store has the combo of that and a free 16 oz bottle of NXT wash. The price online for me is 14.88, which isn't bad in itself. I'm going to use the 10 off 50 coupon on 3 plus a few grout sponges making 3 bottles of NXT liquid wax, 3 bottles of NXT wash, 3 of the grout sponges a total of $43.xx after tax. I'm going to give one or two of these as gifts, but still not a bad deal either way.

NXT is a little streaky. Kinda hard to get off. I use a machine and it solves this problem.

I found a bottle of Rain-X at my local hardware store for $2.75.
Haven't used Rain-X in a long time but for this price why not.
I do forget how long it last though ?
How often will I have to re-apply it?Feed back please

Thanks, I haven't used NXT liquid either, but I have used the paste. I just want to give it as a gift, and to have in a pinch I suppose. So, if you call it 3/39 or so, you can do alot worse for a bottle of wash and wax for $13.

you will be lucky if it last over a month

NXT Liquid wax is mostly what I use, very easy to apply and wipe off.
My car is black and leaves no streaks:dblthumb2:
It's my go to wax.
