Incredibly Cheap Finds

^^ I use the Home Depot buckets, they fit perfect in them. Pepboys as well, but a bit more expensive (I got one on sale).

Hey Guys - New here and just had a quick question.

Im looking to pickup a grit guard on amazon, and seem to notice a recurring theme in this post about the grit guards not fitting properly in a bunch of the 5 gallon buckets people pickup

Does anyone know what bucket the grit guards DO fit in? I went to walmart last night and saw a blue one with the walmart logo and a white one, but i heard that they dont fit properly in the walmart ones, then someone said the ones at advance auto they dont fit in properly either... wheres the GOOD ones at?

I have not tried either of those, but I'll tell you where I know they do work:

Home Depot Homer bucket (orange with HD logo)
Lowes Blue (with Lowes logo) - it's a snug fit, which I like because I can dump the water without it falling out.
Lowes Gray - Seems to be same as the blue
Lowes/Home Depot White - I think it's the same from either store, and the thing fits. Can't remember if it's snug.

I can also tell you that they do not fit in the translucent bucket Lowes sells with the measurements on the side. I put a hole in the thing trying to force the grit guard in.
If you experiment with any others please let us know the results!

Sorry about the big lots. I know that a lot of folks around here ask me what a clay bar is and "why don't you just use rain x. " I was able to grab quite a few from one store and will be going to another today.

I've always said stop buying buckets. Go to your smaller grocery store in town, one with a bakery, and be incredibly nice and just say you need a bucket or two and "a friend" told you that you guys may have some they're going to toss.

The icing comes in them.

I've gotten the best two buckets I own from a local burger place that gets their pickles in them. They're 0.90 or .95 thick vs the 0.7 that you buy in the store. Plus, the grocery store will give you a lid most of the time.

I also like the grocery I store ones because they're sometimes 3.5 gallons.

I've attached a pic of the white bucket I got from the grocery store next to a Home Depot for size. Fits a grit guard. It's my go to rinse free wash.

Also, the Scotchgard was $2.20 from family dollar. Wife picked it up for me.

I'll say it again. $55 for the polisher, $15 for the new backing pad, and $8 for the polishing pad, you're at $75-80+ shipping vs $19.99. They're in different classes for size and performance but keep in mind $20 is a different class than $80

^^ WHaaaaaaaa? How?

I had seen it about 20 miles from my house a while back for $16 or so and some folks said they were getting it got $7 or 10. I tried and they let it go. It took about 5 minutes of being really polite and asking how much I could buy it for, manager said to try and sell it, if it goes through we have to give it to him. The cashier was incredibly cool, everyone else was jealous. I had an extra spray bottle in the car and filled it up for him.

Just down the street I got 6 aquapel and one purple clay, $1.25 each, 8 magic erasers for $0.37. I was browsing and didn't see any aquapels but these were in the "as seen on tv" section, probably going to double back and check other stores now.

go to HF, they have the white 5 gallon buckets (around $4 IIRC) that will fit the grit guard and are just a tad loose in there. bring one with you to make sure...

I wish there was a single K-Mart in my state even.

I need some clay. I used the purple "glass" clay on a filthy vehicle recently and had great results. I didn't honestly think it was that much more aggressive than the standard clay, but I have never used a Clay Magic product other than this one. Does anyone know if I'm causing non-reparable damage? I did a 2 step afterwards, and I honestly didn't notice any more marring than other clays...

that purple bar is probably mild (probably no more aggressive than the blue) and any marring left behind can be polished out...

i started to walk away thinking i didn't need the clay (which i don't) and turned back and bought the last two they had. clay doesn't go bad and has no expiration so no worries there...

K-Mart near me has Lexol Leather care kits for $5.74.

On the AA griots spray wax call before you drive. It's regional so your store may have it at regular price.
