Black & Decker 18V NiCad Cordless Sweeper/Blower (Refurbished) $20 + Free Shipping - Slickdeals.net

What do you think about this? I was thinking about picking it up but I have a decent corded one. The old weed eater version everyone has. Curious if anyone has used a cordless to dry a car... I like that it has a "round" tube so you can modify if you want. You can't attach a hose to my weed eater one because of the oval shaped output.

Personally, I'm weary about refurbished, but that is one hell of a deal. I'd go for it.

I missed it. Oh well. I found a lowes near me that has 3 20v b&d li-ion blowers for $43 so I may go that route. Supposedly li ion is best for this kind of thing.

Nice man, those things are expensive. Yeah lithium ion is great. It charges faster and holds a charge longer. The best thing is the way it behaves when the battery drains. With traditional batteries, your device will gradually become less powerful, rendering it useless long before the battery dies. With Li-ion, there is only a small amount of power loss right before the battery dies.

This headlamp set is on sale this month at Costco for $7.99; includes Duracell batteries and the headlamp pivots.

I've been using one that's not as bright and it comes in very handy, especially when the power goes out in the house. Once I have a chance to try one, I'll let you know how well it works.

If you have time give it a try this wkend. I've been looking for one, leaning toward the Rayovac I saw at HD, but haven't bought one yet. Want to use it when detailing in my garage, the halogens on stands are melting me. Thanks.

Just curious what are you guys using the headlamps for? I have a Black Friday special that I got from Home Depot that is 3 LEDs and claims 75 lumens I believe. I like it because I tend to find myself late at night with low lights trying to get stuff done on the interior of a vehicle. But if you guys are getting more, like swirl finding, let me know and I'll upgrade

I want to use it when in my garage mainly to help see where I start and stop putting product on the car, and to resume at the right place instead of leaving a gap. My silver & white cars make it hard to see clearly.

I hear you on the light colors. My number one customers, parents, have 3 vehicles. All white.

My wife has a white car

My DD is champagne.

My brothers car is light silver.

Two friends that I do regularly are white and "tan"

Frustrating. Especially when you try to spread something thin.

Swirl finding correction and interior, mine is something like 400-500 lumen i believe at the brightest

Hey Kappy, I went to my local Costco today & they had a different head lamp for $3.99; 3 LED sections but only emitting 25 lumens total. I couldn't use that when the lights go out in my house, a candle might be brighter. Maybe I'll try a different location to see what they have, or check their online store. I would've bought the Rayovac at HD but the pack didn't say how bright it was & no one knew; that in itself is a bad sign I guess.

Hamilton, do you think your 75 lumens would be enough to see where to start & stop applying product? I'd like to get something this wkend with the sales & the detailing season beginning here.

I tried out the head lamp in my garage, with no other lights turned on, and I could see some scratches and swirls in the paint. With the overhead light on it was more difficult to see scratches, but the head lamp was still an improvement over just using the overhead light.

The head lamp would be very handy to have inside the car. I applied some Optimum Leather Protectant to the dash last weekend, and discovered I missed a few spots once the car was out in the sun. With the head lamp, I could see the dash more easily and would have done a better job.

It's not the most powerful head lamp available, but for the price I'm sure I'll find uses for it.

The $11-12 ozark trail headlamps at walmart are pretty good for general use. I've yet to try it for swirl finding. I mostly use mine when doing car repairs as I can't stand drop-lights or flash lights when doing that type of work. It's nice to have both hands free to work with.

Not sure about the rules on posting links so just search "ozark trail 150 lumen headlight" and you should find it.
