Good job! Thanks for making my lunch break busy tomorrow too!

I'll be checking out an advance that had one a week or two ago. It rang up for $6 last week. Almost pulled the trigger.

In case anyone is interested here are the products that have been confirmed a nickel. Some are wayyy old but sometimes they'll sit on the shelves;

Griots:
Interior cleaner gallon
Spray on wax gallon
Microfiber wash pad (old stock red one)

3m lens and hard plastic cleaner
Autocraft lug but brush
Autocraft microfiber kit (3pack sponge, glass, "drying towel")
Autocraft microfiber scrub and wash tool

I picked up a couple gallons of the spray on wax around January for $8 a gallon which is still a hell of a deal, these wash mitts that rung up as a nickel were indeed the red ones!

I was at Tractor supply today they have MF applicator pads 2 pack for 1.50... Ill be going back when wife is not with me. I have been using them to use glass scrub on the house windows.

I can add a little bit to this. Keep in mind it varies by location. I have picked up the 16oz Car Wash at 2 different locations at $.05, the 8oz Vinyl and Rubber treatment at 2 locations for $.05, the blue applicator sponges for $.05 and also the megs medium cut metal polish for $.05.

You guys make me drool with envy! Wish we had Advance here in AZ. It always amazes me the unreal prices you pay for the stuff you find there. The best we get sometimes is when Pep Boys puts something on clearance and even then it's not all that great of a price - certainly not when compared to the blow-out, give-away prices at Advance!

I wish we had Pep-Boys here in StL haha. I keep getting jealous hearing about all the deals there!

I have an advance near me.

Can you tell me how this works? Are these items listed on thr shelf at .05? Or how do you know what will ring up at that price?

The deals that you get at Pepboys.com are way better than the ones in store. Also, they will run a deal with Free Shipping over $50 or $75, so it makes it even sweeter. The closest one to me is about 45 minutes away, so sometimes I will make the drive down there when I make an order. You can make the order, they call you when it gets there, and you have 3 days to go get it. You also don't have to pay until you get there to pick up your order.

I was just at my AA and they had some of this stuff. But, it's not with clearance items - just on the Griot's display. Wonder why?

A lot of companies will stock a new product in all the stores, and see how it sells. The stores that sell will usually keep stock, and the ones that don't will eventually throw it on clearance and never to be seen again. So your store may be one of the ones that the product actually sells well. It comes down to targeting the market.

Yeah ok so most of that is right. What happens is each advance has a different line of products and every so often it's adjusted based on sales. Most of the time a product that you will get for $.05 is a product that they dropped from that store and they simply didn't pull it and send it back to the manufacturer/destroy per corporate instructions. It's almost always a case of someone not doing their job. Selling the $.05 item, as I've been told by a manager, is generally looked bad on by the regional managers because someone didn't pull the item. They don't care as much about losing the money it's the fact that it will come up on a report.

With that being said, I've gotten the 3m lens and hard plastic cleaner at 4 different advance autos and a gallon of spray wax at 2 different AA's for that price. The interior cleaner was confirmed nationwide. But I got a bottle of the vinyl and rubber dressing the other day for $8.95 or whatever msrp is.

Just get something you need and throw something you suspect is a nickel in with the purchase. They'll almost never blink twice. They don't like when you owe them $.05 for a gallon of spray wax though.

The wax, wheel brush, and 3m cleaner were all in their original spot in the store.

Sometimes the stuff is will the clearance but not marked .05. The riots stuff I got was not even on clearance. Was with the regular products. It is really hit or miss.

Every Advance seems has different prices on Griots products. The gallon of Griots Spray Wax was $15.00 at one Advance, $7.49 at another and less than $5.00 at another. The Turtle Wax Rinseless Wash was $4.75 at most Advance locations but it looks like they are all sold out around here

Last weekend my wife was out of town so I had time to kill. I made rounds to Advanced, Autozone, Target, Walmart, and Pep Boys. I was unable unfortunately to find any bargains in the Reading PA area. But with this new information I will try several Advanced and see what I find. You have to watch. Ollie's a east coast buyout store had what was supposedly awesome prices on Maguiar's 3 packs of MF towels. Luckily I had my phone and found I could buy them cheaper not on special from Amazon.

WalMart is my go to place, mags is usually real cheap there, about $3-4 below every where else

Does anyone know if there are similar buyout stores in the midwest? I'm in St. Louis, but I've never heard of such places.

Lowest I've seen on the black hose
