Incredibly Cheap Finds

^^^ I believe the Chrome wheel cleaner has hydroflouric acid.

It does. While it does a great job of cleaning off heavy deposits of brake dust and crud be careful using it on anything other than chrome wheel. It can discolor clearcoat, colored paint, and bare aluminum.

And you won't believe what it will do to your lungs if you accidentally inhale some wind born spray. I was unable to breathe. My lungs filled up with liquid and my only to flush out my lungs with water. Yes water. Just like drowning on purpose. Now, I always wear a respirator when using the stuff.

hey Spiney!

Gamma lids are screw on lids that are used to contain liquids and
or solids. They are used in science labs. I don't know if they work with
a 5 gallon paint bucket because most of them don't have threads on the topmost part of the bucket. Chemical Guys sells them.

The Gamma Lids that I have were sold as two pieces

One attaches the the top of the bucket

The second is the lid which has a rubber O-ring

They work very well, but you can't stack the buckets...tradeoffs

Chemical Guys only sells it in a kit with a bucket, grit guard, etc. But, you can get the gamma seal lids by themselves all over the place online in a variety of colors, or they have them at Lowes in white or black and Home Depot in just black. And the one Chemical Guys has pictured with the kit is definitely in 2 pieces, like allenk4 said in the quote below. If you're using them in the lab, they might be the same color as the bucket so it appears that the threads are on the bucket itself.

A little tip, for whoever originally posted about them, when you put the gamma seal lid on the bucket, have the cap screwed in, and tight. It's much more difficult if you try to put the ring on by itself, and you may even end up twisting and damaging it. A rubber mallet goes a long way.

I thought Meguiar's Hot Rims Chrome Wheel Cleaner was safe for clear coated wheels?

I thought Meguiar's Hot Rims Chrome Wheel Cleaner was safe for clear coated wheels?

Their website just says "safe for pure chrome metal wheels." The purple Hot Rims, All Wheel & Tire Cleaner, is safe for clear coated wheels.

We have a few shop supplies we get monthly via amazon subscribe and save but last month we were short an item, digging around I found that you can subscribe to CG "el gordo" towels for a dozen around $18.56 shipped to your door via subscribe and save. I've found they are great mid duty towels for when I need something between my high end towels and super cheapies and they are about a dollar a towel cheaper than from CG site direct. With a dozen coming every other month new towels just arrive with our other supplies to replace any we may have tossed due to contamination or damage.

While I don't consider these towels great @$2.99, @$1.55 they are a pretty good deal IMO.(price before TN sales tax is @1.42 for those lucky enough to be in states without sales tax on amazon purchases)

WOW!!!!!! Seriously, $22.99?

I usually have CarMomma pick some up when she goes in there (it's up by her work). But it's been since Spring as she got 3 packs back then.

Our last ones were $13.99. Yes, NINE BUCKS LESS!

That's a 64% price increase, HOLY CRAP!
