Incredibly Cheap Finds

My local Kmart is selling the Meguiars Ultimate kit - UQW, supreme shine cloth, quik interior wipes and UWW... For $5.

The UQW alone is worth that! I used it for the first time last weekend and was really impressed.

Guess Advance Auto is continuing same sale. Did a availability check for my area and is back in stock at every store listed

Some might've seen it in the microfiber thread, but TRC is having a 20% off sale which doesn't seem to happen too often. I picked up over 30 towels when I normally only get about 10.

I'm watching MFT in case they having a spring sale too.

Observation question on DUB wheel cleaner.

So, with the news that the DUB cleaner can be had for $5 I thought I'd go ahead and try it. Of course there were no stores in the state of Georgia that had it in stock

Just noticed in the thread today that it's showing up in stock again. Checked just now and found it at the store one city north of here, guess I'll go get what they have and try it.

That however isn't the question/observation I had in mind.

Being as DUB Wheel Cleaner is "color changing" I'd taken that to mean it works like all the other iron dissolving cleaners. I've seen the photos, green and red in all the shots. But what I just noticed, (reading the description on the Meguiar's site) is that it GOES ON RED, and only THEN does it change green. Uhhhhh is it actually dissolving iron? I know it has good reviews across the board, there have been head-to-head tests with it and other 'iron dissolving' cleaners, and of course it's FIVE BUCKS.

OK.... so the above was from earlier, which got me to thinking. In doing that I called Meguiar's to ask what the real deal was.

Spoke with a fellow named Dan, he didn't have a clue what I was referring to when I spoke of "iron dissolving" cleaners. :dunno: At that point I told him that all the other cleaners either go on green, clear, etc. and THEN change red as the iron is oxidized. Just that I was curious as to whether or not DUB cleaner actually is oxidizing the iron, or what is happening is a sort of aerobic reaction. Again, 'Dan' didn't have a clue. This is where I told him I'd just contact Jason Rose and get an answer and see how it'd go from there. That must have got his attention (he was surprised I knew who Jason was) so he put me on hold and went to check, (as he put it). The best info that he came back with was that the color change is due to the cleaner interacting with brake dust. He did mention that it is similar to IRON-X (in that regard). Although, I'd already told him about IRON-X, Sonax, Einszett, Adams, and others in that genre'.

Funny enough the Advance Auto site said it was now available in my 3 local stores (within 15 miles) yet when I tried to get 6 bottles it became unavailable in all but one, (the farthest one away OF COURSE). I'm outta' here now, on a mission, and will return with as many bottles as I can find. :buffing:

It sprays on green and then it turns red.

Was at Walmart and just picked up some Mothers leather tech wash for 1.50 and the infusion cream for 5.00 bucks.

Also noticed they are carrying the Barrett Jackson line.

TW rinse free is now $3 and they have 30 left at furthest Walmart from my house.

I have to pick up a few gallons of distilled water tonight for two jobs tomorrow.
(if I can't get DI, I guess Distilled is the next best thing)

Yeah that's what I thought it would/should do.

Then I read ON RHE DUB SITE that it did just the opposite which was confusing to say the least. (Of course I've neeeeever been confused.)

>>> DUB EFFECT: COLOR CHANGE

The Wheel Cleaner features a color changing formula, that changes from red to green to highlight the cleaning process and indicate when to rinse clean. <<<

See how that would be confusing?:dunno:

It's here:
http://www.dubcarcare.com/site/

Look on the 'home' page then scroll down and look on the right.

Now if you go to the products tab, and then to the wheel cleaner it says it starts green and turns red.

All that out of the way....
Went to 3 different Advance stores this afternoon and now I have 8 bottles. :D
Oh I also have a bottle of the DUB interior cleaner that somehow or another only cost me $0.83. ;)

didn't have anymore Megs kits when I found out about the deal for $5; an employee told me about it when I wondered through the auto section, which is a lunch time habit; today, found Surfcity Garage Hotrod detailer, Barrier Reef spray wax and Beyond Black for $5/each at my Walmart.... their Black Detailer was still regular price; bought 2 spray wax, 3 detailers and 1 Beyond Black for $29.50.

Picked up 4 bottles of Dub wheel cleaner and 4 cans of brake cleaner at my local Advance today, and a small funnel made to fit the opening on capless gas filler necks on new cars.

confirmed. at my local k-mart the white clearance price still says $9, but I scanned it on the price scanner and it indeed came up $5...

Target is clearing out some meguires stuff. pics attached

Picked up 2 Ultimate Protectant ($2.68), a Natural Shine ($2.48), and a black wax ($4.98).

also at walmart, I saw the carrand suds-n-spray foam gun and judging by the video (google) at around 40 seconds, the foam doesn't look to shabby if that's what you like. didn't catch how much it was, but this could be the closest alternative to a foam gun that can be purchased otc...

Might have to grab some Black Wax to help out some customers' DDs with road rash... Cool.
