Incredibly Cheap Finds

I stopped by Oreillys this morning and found Meguiars Paint Protect on the clearance rack for $1.97
I've always been curious as to how this would work to protect headlights after using McKee's AIO Headlight Restoring Polish.. I cleaned up the headlights on a Toyota Camry 4months ago, and protected them with Megs Headlight Protectant. They're already starting to haze up again... It'll be great if this lasts longer.

You cannot go wrong at that price. I used the same headlight polish on my HHR a few months back, and I'm noticing haze as well. I have used Opti-Seal and other products on them after the polishing job. Paint Protect might be the ticket.

Once a headlight had faded that means the uv protection is 100% gone.

Wax sealant will help, but those lights will always be prone to fading again.

The only way to 100% protect them is with a clear coat. Or a coating.

But if you do that to a customers car make sure you get paid accordingly.

If its your own cars that are fading faster.

Wetsand and buff them to 100%
Mask off
Clear coat

Let the clear coat dry, and wetsand and buff the clearcoat afterwards to make 100% new

Advanced Auto had Megs wheel polishing kits with the cone foam tool and some polish for around $15. Bottle of Ultimate polish was $5

My local aa was sold out of all clearance detail stuff

I did get a deal on griots glass cleaner last week, got 4 cans for $12

I applied Megs Headlight Protectant to the lights on the new Kia here at home.. Upon close examination I can see a cloudy film on them, looks like residue from the Headlight Protectant that's still on the headlights.. What would be the best way to completely remove it without being aggressive?

I got this box of 3M Scotch Brite Pad 60 count at a local auction Saturday for $7.00

Not the only way... I have done this with success....

Picked up another turtle wax ice sealant from Oreillys again since I gave one away. I have yet to use it but they're down to $2.67 a piece.

Meguiars Paint Protect is also down to $1.97

I don't know if I've posted this on this forum but it's something I've been doing for about 10 years. There are many places you can find this type of product which is A/C weatherstripping. I use it to apply trim and tire sealants. You can get various sizes - widths and lengths. I think the last time I got some was at ACE hardware and it was 10' on sale for $2.79. I use scissors and cut off a couple of inches then use it and toss it in the trash when I'm done. I cut off more the next time. Here's a link to what it looks like at Walmart. 1-1/4X1-1/4X42 A/C Tape - Walmart.com It's nice to have something you can toss in the trash after going over your tires. Some times I put the one I use on the interior in a ziplock and use it again. Save your money and don't use your good applicators on tires and trim....save them for the paint. I was at a car show last week and watched a guy use a brand new microfiber coated foam pad on his tires. He definitely has more money than I do.

Purchased a gallon of Griots Brilliant Finish Car Soap at advanced auto for $4 today. I have noticed that the products with yellow price tags near the registers are normally the products on sale. Scored two bottles of Griots One Step Sealant for $2.50 a piece the other week.

Got a better deal on the Griots One step Sealant than I did but I'm happy with what I paid. $4.88 a bottle and bought the last two bottles.

I stopped by AA and got Eagle One spray degreaser ($1), GG Rubber and tire spray ($2 and change), Meg's wheel polisher ball with polish and foam ball cleaner ($13.99), Eagle One foam wash (type you connect to hose and spray water or wash, washes 16 cars, $3.39) and Meg's White wax for $2 and change.

Foam Cannon for $21.50 shipped!

Foam Cannon for $21.50 shipped! And, it's AWESOME!

A couple of years ago, my MTM foamer was run over by a customer (don't ask). I didn't replace it right away and eventually, its importance and priority just kind of dwindled.

Earlier this week, I replaced it with a much cheaper unit I found on eBay and Amazon. It's a Chinese-made unit but nearly all the reviews I read gave it high praises - which is unusual simply due to the fact that people are more apt to post negative reviews than positive ones.
So, I flopped for the $21.50 incl. shipping and had it in my hands the next day. If I didn't know it wasn't an MTM unit, I would never be able to tell. It's well made of quality brass parts and the bottle is thick and the neck is reinforced to avoid breakage from tipping over.

Here's the one I bought:

Over 200 reviews and a 4.5 star rating!

I shot a video in which I review the foamer and offer some advice for making it work with an AR Blue Clean AR383 pw.

If you're in the market for a foamer, you can't go wrong with this one for less than $25!

Search YT for vids of it in action. There are plenty of them.
Soooooo much foam!

Not a car care product, but today at Costco I got a few 32degree cool short sleeve shirts. They are the quick dry light weight ones. They were only $4.99 each. For men they had light grey, my wife got three different colors same deal.

I just want to remind everyone to check your latest car magazine for tear out coupons for $5 off on 303 products at Advance Auto Parts. I usually tear them out and toss them in the trash before I even look at them. If anyone does not want their coupon please pm me for my address. I will happily send you a stamp and envelope!

I have run into a few of these lower-cost units. And almost without fail, these reviews wind up getting update about a month later saying it was returned or stopped working after some use. This is the reason I always wait at least a month to review any purchase I make online because you simply cannot judge the ability/quality of a product based on how it looks/feels out of the box.

Have you used your unit? How many times? After having it a month, will you post a review on it? I sure do want one, but cannot justify the cost due to me just starting out and being in Tiny RI.

I'd love to hear your thoughts after you put some heavy usage into it!

Thanks for the update.

The local Advances here in Harrisburg area (3 of them) only carry the 303 convertible top cleaner. They don't have the other items so hopefully you will have them in your area. If I known now I would of saved my coupons for you as I threw them out.

I posted that a while back(without a picture here). Surprised your store has any. They got wiped out here quick and I only found one.

Speaking of Ollies: They have several of the Dub products from Meguiars for around $2.99 a bottle. Spray wax, quick detailer, car wash soap, and maybe one more that I'm forgetting. As always with a closeout type store, ymmv.

Edit-- just remembered that they had the DUB metal polish and possibly interior cleaner as well. I did not see any wheel cleaner, but it could have been gone before I got there. They appeared to have quite a lot of the other stuff. Their auto detailing products section is growing this time of year. Lots of extra stock on top of the shelves.
