Infinity G35 Detail

Keep in mind that paint hardness is very color and year specific. That's why you may read someone saying the paint is soft and someone else claiming Infiniti paint is hard.

Never know until you try. Your test spot process should be similar in all situations.

Look at the severety of the defects, if it's obvious that a finishing polish won't get you the results, grab the least aggressive compound you have (like D300) and try that on a cutting pad or light cutting pad and play around with different pressures and speeds. If that's not enough, step to a more aggressive compound. Once you start doing this, it will become evident what combo works best.

Will do, since the roof is possibly a single stage I was going to go as easy as possible on it, we'll see how it turns out, my big challenge is the etched water spots all over the drivers side paint and windows. *insert sarcasm here* Those should be fun... *end sarcasm* :-)

Started on the G35 today, had to use acid on the wheels they were so bad. Much better now! Washed, Clayed, and compounded the entire car. Have the hood, trunk, and entire drivers side polished out. Need to do the bumpers, passenger side, and roof tomorrow as well as detail the engine and polish the exhaust.
My wife was with me on this one, and was watching me work. I had to use a wool pad with V34 on my rotary buffer (Makita 9227C) to get the water spots off. Went back over everything with a green hex-logic foam pad, and some V38 with my DA (Porter Cable 7424XP) to remove all of the swirls left by the wool pad. Anyways... My wife noticed how quick the wool pad would gunk up and me having to spur the pad numerous times until it was doing more harm then good, then switch to another. Finally ran out of wool pads and switched to a cyan cutting pad to finish.
Came home today and my wife was smiling because she had ordered me an early Christmas gift. It was supposed to be a surprise, but I just happened to be looking at pad washers on AG. Apparently the wife beat me to it and ordered me a pad washer from CG lol. Love the little lady, definitely blessed to have her.
Will finish the car up tomorrow and get some pics of it all shined up! :-)
Hope you all had an awesome Thanksgiving!!!

This is pretty much what I was working with over the entire car... I hate etched water spots!

I didn't get much in the way of before pictures, but I think i turned out pretty dang good. Considering the entire car was covered in water spots, there was a few that I wasn't comfortable getting all the way out.
My buddy's jaw dropped to the ground when he walked into his garage and saw his car. Needless to say for Christmas he's going to get a little care package from me with a few microfibers, some good car wash, and some wax. Really stoked this car turned out so well!

It is difficult to see the imperfections besides the water spots on this color and almost impossible to get them to show in pictures. This makes it hard to get good before and after shots but oh well, it looks like you did an amazing job.

You are a very true friend. We need more people like you in the world.

Have a great time at the concert and enjoy the almost surprise pad washer!

I really appreciate the kind words, thank you!
The concert was amazing, and I can't wait for the pad washer. I've already got a few pads to clean, just waiting for it to arrive! lol
