Input on new contest...

Good idea. I'm looking forward to this one. I have a Mustang to do next week; interior only, and a red 2000 FRC Corvette exterior, and maybe interior as well -I'll find out Monday- :D

Also it might be a good idea to wait a little until Mother Nature makes up her mind. It's not very easy to detail a car in the snow...

I think we will run the contest for a few weeks to give everyone a chance to get some good weather.

Also the entry thread should only have entries posted -- no comments or anything of the like.

Maybe to add to that, limit the amout of pictures to be contained in one post -- which I believe the forum only allows 15 pictures per post. A bunch of redundant pictures can get boring at times. Keeping them contained in one post will allow people view the makeovers easier.

--It sounds like a good idea, however I'm not sure if it is possible to show the details in 15 pictures or less. If everyone is limited to the amount of pictures (15) able to post, then it'd be a level playing field... which will make the detailer choose the best pictures to represent the detail instead of posting 25 random, out of sequence pictures.

Also, no trick photography :), no before shots in direct sun and then afters in a garage .... similar lighing conditions would be ideal. It's easy to make a black car look nice in the shade of a garage or at dusk.

:iagree:

Beauty shot are great and IMO should be taken to show off how the car looks after the full detail.....not for showing paint corrections.

Ok so yes to a picture limit or no? You give me a number that is fair....
And I think yes on only entries can post in the thread also.

If you guys want a REAL challenge, maybe in the future we should hold a makeover contest that has to be done with NO machine help whatsoever. :D

Just a random thought....looks like this is coming together nicely though. Can't wait to see you guys work your magic!

I have a feeling there will be some tired arms after that one!

Maybe we should do 2 threads one to make sticky w/o comments and then a 2nd thread with all the peoples comments and questions. That way we have one to show all new members without them getting overwhelmed by reading all the peoples questions and comments.

That would work well, another good idea. I still believe that there should be some type of limit to pictures. I saw a post on another forum that had about 60 pictures and a lot of them were redundant. A ton of pictures will be a distraction to the makeover, especially if most of the pictures are focused on after pictures in the shade.

Meghan, Matt, etc. is there a limit to the amount of pics per post? If it were 15 per post maybe people could limit pictures and descriptions to no more than 2 consecutive posts, for a total of 30 pictures.

I think it would be ideal to have all entries organized in a thread which is easy to view and to showcase the work accomplished, not full of comments and distractions. These are just my thoughts though.

I like the idea of a separate thread for comments. It will make the judging easier IMO.

As far as pictures, I would also have to agree with picture limitations. It shouldn't take you more than 20 pictures to show before/afters to show the quality of work done IMO. It would get redundant like Budman said.

I went through the last 10 Show and Shines that had paint correction with before and after pictures and the average was 20.9 pictures per detail. These were just exterior pictures, interiors were not counted.

One detail had 43 pictures with 22 pictures in one post so I do not think there is a limit to the amount of pictures per post on this forum.

There should be no limit on pictures and comments should be allowed.
I agree 100%

I still disagree and think there should be no limit to the quantity of images....

If there are "too many" pictures that cause a "distraction" the contestant will only be hurting themself....

I thought this was suppose to be fun and to help out other forum members so I don't see why there should be a limit on pictures and people should be able to comment on each detail. It seems those that have a problem with that must be afraid that their work isn't up to par.
