Most instant detailers say they polish and clean. does using a instant detailer like Mothers eat away at your wax already on the car ?

I wouldn’t think so. I think the word is over used and used a lot where lay people have no clue what it means, they just think when you are using a liquid and a towel and wiping your car, you are polishing. I personally wont buy anything that says redundant crap like that on the label.

Just my .02

So what you are saying is there is no such thing as "Cleans and waxes (polishes)". I have always kinda questioned that too

Is an "instant detailer" the same as a "quick detailer" in this context? I do believe that most quick detailers do not make the claim of polishing. They do clean but I can't think of any that claim to polish paint.

Most quick/instant detailers that say they "polish" refer to gloss enhancers.
People associate polish with shine or gloss so it's marketed towards that.
They won't contain abrasives or strong cleaners that would remover your wax layer :)

It's kinda funny, you can basically tell if a product is marketed towards the general public versus the dedicated OCD types like most of us on this forum just by seeing if Polish is on the LSP's description or not.
An instant detailer is just something to wipe off light dust or as a drying aid, spritz on a little on your panel and then dry with whatever towel you use. Depending on the company, spray wax and an instant detailer are almost one and the same.

I think one different spray wax is Fuzion Spray Wax. If you don't buff it out it will streak and leave residue, somewhat like a paste wax. Most of the other spray waxes do behave more like QD but Fuzion Spray Wax is the exception.

Yes Fuzion is a literal spray wax but ones like those are not too common. It's the same with optimum car wax, you gotta give it a final buff for the best look.

Thank You.
