Another possibility is to get some hoods or quarter panels from the local junk yard if there are no cars.
 
Keep in mind we may be in a park w/o juice, so that wouldn't work.

I missed last year's event in May because I started building a house late April and the weather was a challenge last year - too much to do! Well, I'm nearing completion (4 months out I hope!). If i can get the house "done" (enough to get temp occupancy) I wouldn't mind hosting. I'm on the SW side a bit South of I294/I88 and will have a 3-car garage. I just don't have a driveway yet but it should be poured in April so if the event is in a warmer timeframe like July/Aug, it should be fine. I'll just have to get the construction crap out of the garage but it will be a good excuse to do so. There's a Portillo's, BWs, Panera, Chipotle, etc etc within a 5 minute drive from my new place as well.

I have a 26gal compressor, two shop vacs, a GG6 with various pads, and some products. though not much compared to some of you guys.

Let me know what you guys think and I'll see where my project is at later this spring and if the timeframe you decide on works for me.
 
Well Gokite that would be awesome! I think we could do a smaller get together at a park in the spring and once your completely done with everything, let's do one at your place 💡

It will take me until spring to recover from last weeks project. Was lucky enough to work with a great bunch of detailers on Freedom One/Air Force One out at the Pima Air and Space Musem in Tucson Az.

The park sounds like a great idea
May I make a suggestion maybe busse woods forest preserve and then a cruise to the portillos not to far away from there? Just going off of what has already been mentioned :)

It's Elk Grove right off of 290 the Higgins rd exit. There like 5 or 6 picnic areas to enter with lots of parking and chilling area. There's a portillos not far north on golf rd. Or for those hardcore beef eaters who know what I'm talking about there's a johnnies beef on Arlington heights rd nearby also

I thought that was the one and it's very easy to find too, they just built a New bridge that goes over Golf. It would be on the south side of the street. I like the park setting and more laid back setting. I've never got to get to know and BS about cars with anyone really, I really wanna be able to do that and not be so worried about when does this and that start and everything else that comes long with being the organizer of such things.

I've only been here 5 yrs ans have heard of Johnny 's but have never been to. That said the Portillo's down the street has a 59 Chevy in neon above the front door, maybe it's car themed inside🔍

Ya it's a nice area I've been to many meets/premeet/cruises there. It's definitely a nice spot. I can talk about cars any day of the week lol. It shouldn't be to hectic to organize just a date and a rough timespan for people to show up maybe bring some stuff to do some waterless washes, maybe throw some bags, chill hangout, talk, etc. Then cruise out for some food. Simple fun, nothing big or extravagant. I'm sure we have plenty of car enthusiasts here not just detailers.
