Title pretty well says it. I'm interested in hearing what the new Flex long throw has as far as power. We know it can hit 9K. Has anyone ordered one yet?
Awww, what the heck. I got a $500 AG gift certificate from Christmas with the thought of getting a long throw of some sort. Then I see this pop up tonight and I say to myself, "Maybe if it goes on sale, I'll pick it up." So of course there's a 20% sale this weekend! Lol. I ordered the starter kit with 5 black ThinPros, another 6 pack of white ThinPros, and also got the 1, 2, and 3 inch Flex backing plates for my PE14 along with a set of each sized pad to go with the backing plates. Oh yeah, might as well add another backing plate extension. I'm a Flex guy, what can I say? With the deal I got on the gift certificate, this was all less than $400. So, I'll just be sitting here, shaking my bottles of Menzerna, waiting for spring time...
i was looking for that why dont they tell you what size the motor is?
The Flex website lists the power input as 710 watts and power output as 420 watts however you want to interpret that. It seems as though manufactures like to use the input rating as the advertised power (Rupes does also). Don't get too hung up on numbers, read this...

It lists the orbit rate (no load) at 2900-8600 opm. I thought they listed the max as 9000 opm before, but I could be wrong. No big deal either way. They picture the new model with the updated venting. I expect it to be like the last version, but revised with proper cooling to the backing plate to prevent the melting problem it had. From what I read last time around, the Rupes fans said it didn't feel quite as powerful as the 15 mk2. The Flex fans said it blew the Rupes away. I'm guessing they're probably pretty similar performance wise.
Anyone receive theirs yet? Interested in a comparison to 3401
That's an apples to oranges comparison.
One is a gear driven 8mm throw while the other is free spinning 15mm throw.
