Interior Detailing Questions

Hi Guys!
Thanks in advance. I have been doing a lot of reading on the forum and it seems steamer and extractor are a must going forward if I want to start detailing for money. Unfortunately I don't have the funds right now to get either. May I know what do people usually use for interior detailing? I have read someone say dilute rinseless solution like Uber or ONR 1:16. Is that correct? I am currently using Chemical Guys' leather cleaner and conditioner for leather, but I find CG's conditioner leaves a shiny wax feel to the leather which I do not prefer. May I get some suggestions on what interior cleaner and conditioner for leather and a set for vinyl and plastic? How about carpet treatment? Do people mostly just vacuum if the carpet doesn't have any spots or are cleaner used on on the whole carpet? Thanks in advance!

I just started detailing interiors and use a McCulloch MC1385 combined with a Bissel portable unit and found the results excellent. Once you get the money, both are good starting points. I've researched the higher end steam-extractors but I'm not convinced yet that I "need" one. I'm sure they offer the advantages, especially in time savings, but I"m not at the level of interior details yet to invest.

Chemical wise, I've had great success with Folex. Now I'm sure it's great on its own, but I can't say as I've only ever used it combined with steam. Another great one that I've used is Ultima Interior Shampoo Gel.

In that case, get yourself a gallon of Meguiars All Purpose Cleaner Concentrate. It has the power to get this done @10:1 with simply a scrub brush and some terry towels. Nothing fancy to it. Gets the job done and just about never fails if you're willing to detail. It's never failed me, that's for sure.

That's 10 parts water, 1 part concentrate.

Hmm 10:1 I didn't think that solution could handle that much gunk if you will. I'd say 4:1, no?

TBO I never use Megs APC@4:1. I use it strictly @10:1 for everything from wheel wells, to carpets, leather interior, clean plastic trim, bug spray pre wash, it can even handle most dirty wheels all @10:1.

The only thing it doesn't excel at is cleaning tires.

PLUS a detailing brush and a HQ MF on leather recently = MARVELOUS results!!

Did my vinyl dash and doors etc with the brush and APC and couldn't believe how well this APC works!

Extractor, even a small bissel unit. Final wipe off with white terry cloth towels. brush it to stand the fibers up to dry. If the interior is really wet, crack the windows and put a fan inside. might even want to blast the heat and let the car idle for 20 minutes while doing that.

pdqgp is correct, an extractor is "best". However as long as you don't over saturate you can soak up with a towel, followed up with a good vacuuming.

An extractor. Anytime I spray an alkaline like megs APC on a carpet, I always use an acidic fiber rinse to neutralize it. This can be used as your extraction fluid or by misting.
