Don't congratulate me YET, but with the help of the patch, I'm down to a pack a week from roughly a pack a day. Right now what's hurting me is that I like to smoke while I drive and as a result, my car smelled like an ashtray. A couple of bottles of Quik Interior Detailer, a can of "Lemon Fresh" Lysol and about 1/2 bottle of Febreeze, the interior no longer smells of smoke BUT you can't use any of those on glass, so now I need product recommendations.

When I washed my car the other day, the exterior windows got really clean and now I can see just how bad the INTERIOR of the glass is ... It's covered in a haze of icky, sticky cigarette smoke which is a pain and a half to get rid of. Even two + passes with Invisible Glass doesn't always pull it all off, and the smearing  :surrender:

I looked up 'glass polish' in the AG store, but they all say exterior glass, but can they be used INSIDE too? I especially need something for the rear window and windshield since you have to be a contortionist to wipe them down. The door and quarter windows are easy and already done, but the front and rear scare me.

Any suggestions?

I also read of someone using a Magic Eraser. I've not done it, but it sounds like a reasonable idea.

Interesting idea ... I might see if we have one to try.

I just GOOGLE searched that and I think I've got the thread ... give me a minute to read it.

It’s pretty much become standard procedure for me to use a magic eraser with some ONR or UWW+ (melamine sponge) on the interior of any windows I’ve never cleaned before, just because it makes my life so much easier.

My car was owned by my dad who was a smoker previously, and a magic eraser cleaned it up very quickly and easily. A lot more towels than normal also helped. I ended up using one per window, so I didn’t reintroduce any of the film back onto the glass.

Ever since I took the time to do that deep cleaning, I’ve never had an issue getting streak free windows.

I've used cleaner wax on interior windows before that were neglected and it turned out fantastic.

I use rubbing alcohol or acetone on a paper towel, cleans it right off. Then a quality glass cleaner. Sounds harsh but the deposits on the window are chemical or smoke by products and they are easily cleaned with these products

Re: INTERIOR glass polish ... SUCCESS!!!

Using the tips I received in this thread, this morning (It's warmer than yesterday & better light), I used a Magic Eraser (since the wife had one on hand), Invisible Glass and a 3-towel process I cleaned the glass in my car within an inch of its life.

I did all the windows, even the ones I'd already cleaned, by doing the following:

Spray the Magic Eraser with lots of IG, and used it liberally on the glass.

1) Scrub the glass with the eraser - at first I got a lot of suds - it was a used one and I don't know if it was the soap that is already in the eraser or if my wife had added something.

2) Wipe down the wet (dripping) glass with a clean microfiber (long nap side out) and absorb most of the liquid.

3) Take a clean terry towel and wipe off the damp soap film from the glass,

4) Buff the glass with a 2nd microfiber cloth (short nap side out) until it was completely streak-free.

I tried to take a 50/50 picture, but the camera in my phone and the sunlight weren't cooperating. All I can say is when I look out the living room window at my car, it looks like the door windows are rolled down, everything came out awesome.

Thanks to all who offered advice and suggestions. :dblthumb2:

Thanks. I think I'll still avoid using it on my tints. I have too much invested in them on all three vehicles. They are all 3M ceramic, including all the windshields and are amazing. My 3M dealer told me to be careful what I clean them with. I use Stoners and Megs without issues.

I tried it on a small area and it was ok but that was just to test it out. I am like you and just use glass cleaner on tinted glass.

I've posted this before but always try to add when this topic comes up.

- glass cleaner of choice (knock down the big stuff)
- magic eraser and a bowl of warm water (two go arounds)
- microfiber to "polish"
- done

Also like to recommend that you sit backwards in the front seat when cleaning the harder to reach spots as it affords better reach.

Definitely dont vape in your car....It smells a lot better but the film it leaves is worse.....If you do....use water , vinegar (15-20 / 1 in spray bottle) a couple drops of dawn.....I only smoke with the windows down...but that creates flicks of ash.....No real big WIN situation.....I guess I'll have to spend big bucks that clean interior car windows for a living.....a young contortionist !
