My real name is Robert Warren Geco. My friends call me Bob. I started at my parents home buying Sioux polishers from my neighbor who owned a several auto parts stores I miss Manny Marfileld. I had to learn by my self. Back then it was on or off no in between no cruise control or feathering. I started a route washing cars on Saturday and build up to a full mobile business with a Toyota Extra Cab and shell. I joined just by seeing a magaine Carwash & detailing and attened my first detailing seminars at International Car Wash Association conveention in las Vegas. I learned a Lot asked a lot of stupid questions like what is glaze. At the time I was purchasing for two established vendors one in west Hollywood who was noted for use on the Queen of England's cars. nice family. and one in several miles away called Granitize I purchased their blue wax cleaner for dark color cars. and their pre wax cleaner and several other stuff.
In 1985 against the judgement of Steve Okun a speaker for ICA and advisor I moved into a shop 1,200 sq feet for 10 year because it had a classifier. I used to belong to the southern California Detailers association until it disband and came under the ICA wing which we all agree was a wrong move.
In the year 2005 I had a stroke and other medical problems followed must of been the stuff in the compounds I inhaled. I went back after a brief recovery but could not hold it together. So I am retired and walked away. I still remain active with my own automobiles. I must of purchased at lease 5,000 in equipment that I have in my garage. I purchased many other polishers and DA since then . I still have my two Sioux polishers restored then by kimberly brothers and one metal body 2000 Sioux with no mileage . These are work horses the cords alone teell you these are serious machines in the 1960s.
Well keep on polishing and wear a dust- mast don't do what I did to my body. protect your eyes with goggles.
I also had the pleasure to attend my first concours at the Ambassador Hotel and meet Bill lazaler a show car detail . I was introduced to him by the late Len Frank writer for motor trend and avid Alfa Romeo enthusisat. later under the wing of a friend became a Concours judge specializing in Mercedes-Ben post war sports cars. I enjoy it but prefer the shows I do not have to dress up in a time and blue blazer and tie.Not my style.
