Hello everyone. My name is Jim and I've been lurking here for a while absorbing as much of the great information as I can. I currently live in NorCal. I've been detailing my own vehicles for about 18 years and currently own those listed in my signature (no pic of the silver one with the others yet). After purchasing the small black SUV I said I would never own another black vehicle, but after I got into machine polishing about 6 years ago, I bought another...even bigger.. I now love black vehicles...at least for the first 10 minutes after a full detail or wash!

My arsenal currently consists of a pair of 7424XPs, a pair of Flex 3401's and a Flex PE14-2 and a plethora of LC pads.

I'm active on several other forums under the same name and I look forward to learning even more here in a never ending effort to further refine my technique. I noticed immediately that this is one of the best run, most knowledgeable, and friendliest forums I've been a part of to date.

Welcome to Autogeek!!.

Your arsenal is well armed!

How are you getting 10 full minutes out of full wash/detail of a black vehicle? Mine only lasts 6...

:welcome: To Autogeek Online Jim!

You've got quite a collection of equipment and seeing you own 2 black vehicles they must keep your spare time to an absolutely minimum....

You caught me. It's more like 5 minutes on each black one, lol. I fish a lot too, so I always round up by habit..way up.

Thanks for the welcome. With 4 SUVs in the family (my wife has an 09 Toyota Rav4 Sport in Magnetic Grey Metallic which might as well be black too), I definitely keep busy. The little black SUV is my daily, so perfection isn't reality, but the black TBSS is a garage queen and I definitely pull out all the stops when it comes to that one.

**Nice** rides :props: welcome aboard if you've hung around well you know.. can't be said enough though GREAT people tons of info all around :awesome: place!!! Oh and excellent choice of:buffing: equipment also..

Welcome, whereabouts ya from in NorCal? I'm in the Fairfield/Vacaville area...

Welcoem to AGO!!

Nice set of buffers you have! Mind if I ask why do you have a pair of the PCXP and 3401 if you're only detailing your own vehicles? How do you like the PE14? I'm planning to get one soon.

San Carlos/San Mateo area. Not too far from you.

The pair of XP's was because I always had one as a dedicated 4" unit. I got tired of swapping backing plates all the time. The other I use primarily with a 5" backing plate. The pair of 3401's, well, that was a similar setup as I picked up the 2nd unit during true last holiday sale and just got my 4"/6" LC interchangable backing plates. So there was a tiny bit of method to my madness. I just couldn't say no to the price at the time. Yes, probably a bit of overkill on part for my own vehicles.

I flat out love the PE14, I'm just not as proficient with it yet as I am the DA's. Hopefully that will change soon. You can't really go wrong with one if you choose to do so. The light weight and ergonomics of it make a pleasure to use.
