Introducing the DP Turbo Car Dryer! 6.5 Peak Horsepower Blower for Drying Your Car!

We're trying to find the root cause of why the hose is blowing out of the body of the blower. I never had this issue once in the 6+ months of testing the unit prior to it being introduced. I've performed random checks and there's no consistent reason why one does it and another does not.

The best solution at this point is to put a bead of superglue around the lip of the nozzle and firmly snug it into the body of the blower.

Mine did exactly the same thing. It also needs a strap or something to free up a hand. I'm back to my Side Kick. Waste of money.

We've actually tested the blower with a strap and it was somewhat cumbersome. Everyone agreed holding it with your hand is easier. I regret hearing that you gave up on the unit. Send me a PM with your order number and I'll set you up with an exchange or return.

Tim at Shop Vac mentioned twisting the hose when you attach it to the blower. He said this creates more friction. Also, don't pull on the hose or else that will remove it from the blower more easily.

Yeah, the inductions say to twist as you put it in. I've never had an issue with mine.

This is a little disheartening to hear. I just bought my unit and it arrived on Thursday. Haven't tried it yet.

I did notice putting it together there seemed to be a tiny tab on one of the tubes but I didn't see any matching receiver for it. Might disassemble it and look closer at it to determine if that somehow matters.

Nick, if you find fix or manufacture a new part to fix this issue please keep us earlier adopters in the loop.

I'll try to get to the car tomorrow and give it a run to see if I have this issue. Already too hot today to tackle a proper wash.

I'll gladly offer a $25 merchandise credit to anyone that has an issue with the hose not staying attached. I'm very peculiar like a lot of you are (nothing wrong with that!) so I totally understand the frustration of buying a new tool that has an annoying quirk. This project was my baby from the start and it kills me that several of you are having an issue that I have yet to experience in my all testing.

We used two of them over the weekend at our Detailing Boot Camp class and didn't have any issues. I'm going to experiment with a "worst case scenario" using these two units to see what I can find.

Otherwise, the only fix at this time is to apply a bead of super glue (get the good stuff, not the $1 cheapo tube from Dollar Store) to hold the hose in place. We're working with Shop Vac to see if any changes can be made to solve this issue for future units.

What diamter is the hose? Can always use a silicone joiner like on the coldside plumbing of a turbo kit

Just thinking out loud here,

Perhaps putting the short connector tube in the freezer for a few minutes could cause it to shrink up a bit and you might be able to insert it further. When it expands to room temp it might hold tightly.

Wait, that might be backwards, might need heat. Dang it, I'll have to go look at the unit.

Scratch all that, the tube is already bottoming out in the receiver. Those ideas won't work, but self tapping screws through the outer receiver housing and tube would hold it. Probably 3 evenly spaced around the cone housing either 1/2 to 3/4" long would do it.

My thought (not that it has any basis) would be trim adhesive, not super glue. This might keep hose intact?)

What is trim adhesive and where do you get it? Is it at automotive parts store (ie NAPA)? Thanks

Seems like the trim adhesive worked. Tugged on the hose a bit and it didn't come off.

Cool :xyxthumbs:

Let it set up, then give it a real test with the blower going and using it to dry

So I just got mine last week. I 9nly had a few minutes to try it out. So I hosed down my wife's car hood and blew it dry. The hose stayed attached, however the concentrator nozzle did shoot off once. Luckily it is soft. Maybe user error, will hopefully be able to give it a good test this weekend.

Make sure the included clip is tight.

Yeah, make it really tight. I used some mini-vise grips to get it as tight as possible and blew stuff around my room and at my girlfriend to make sure the nozzle was on tight before even attempting it on my car.
