Bruno's Classic Muscle will be having an open house Jan 20th 2018 in rockville, Maryland.

I've been invited to have a booth to advertise Mr Tommy's services.

Plan to have a demo---using a pick up truck in serious need of paint correction. I will have it set up explaining the whole nine yards from washing to polishing. Also will have my polishers
running so people can get hands on experiences polishing. Going to be a hoot!

Thinking I am going to need something to advertise AutoGeek during the open house.

Maybe a call to AutoGeek? Hummm....fingers drumming on table...thinking...thinking....

Sounds like a lot of fun. Let us know how things turn out. :props:

Wow what a great oppertunity to get customers and that they can test polishing also! Understand that your mind thinking alot. As always do it simple and educate the people who is listening and it will be great. Call autogeek and see what they can do for you and you for them. A banner and maybe some products they and you want to promote.

You will have alot of fun with this! Maybe call in one more to help you out if you know anyone you trust. It can be alot of work before and under the event and after.

Good luck!
Regards Tony

Agree! It only takes one person to get your business off the ground.
He knew right away I was not a typical detailer after I did a car for him.
Also---name dropping didn't hurt either. Told him I was trained by a guy named Mike who has a TV show!!! Grin
He knew all about the show---
Rest, as they say, is history...

Big Thanks to Mike, to the rest of AutoGeek family and for hosting Competition Ready Classes!!

Hi Tom,

I've done a lot of demos at car shows, it's actually not "normally" a good platform.

Why?

Because "car guys" (and their significant others), car to car shows to walk around, look at cars and eat and drink. They don't go to attend a "class".

With a booth, you will have people walking by and about 4-5 minutes on average to do your dog and pony show and then they walk-on to the next visual shiny thing. Then a new crop of people show up and you repeat the dog and pony show.

Again - been there and done that a LOT in my life and while it can work it's not like most people think.

Here's some tips...

  • In any advertising, flyers, etc announce a SET TIME for your MAIN DEMO. Say 10:00am and 1:00pm

  • Have a headset mic and a speaker - take command of the audience.

  • Have a demo dial-in and ready to show. Already have done some testing and know what to expect.

  • Be ready for lots of questions - like will clay remove swirls?

I'm sure you'll do a great job and I'm confident you'll get new customers.

:)

Mike,

Thanks for the input---appreciate you sharing your experiences.

Hummm---Will stew over this based on what you told me. Thank You!

Lots and lots of eye candy here (classic muscle cars)---So, yeah I will have figure something out.

Thanks for the heads up, Mike!!!

One thing to think about is to find a swirled out truck. Do a tape line to split the truck in the middle. Correct one side as perfect as possible. Know is lighting the importened thing to setup. Set it up so you easiely can see the swirls on the not corrected side and the good side to see the perfection. This I think can get a good show at what you are doing and a great talk subject. Just an idea :)

Actually I do have a truck for the open house. I've already iron-x'ed and clayed and it's ready to go.
Planned to spit truck in half with tape. People milling about will have a chance to try polishing and as we move along---will pull tape back little by little. They can get to see results immediately and can move on to other parts of open house. Will be kind of an ongoing "flowing" process during the day. Also will have a display with signs with brief description/ examples of products divided into series of steps IE: Wash---Decontaminate----polish-----protection.

Again---will need to stew on this a bit. It'll be a work in progress.

Thanks for jumping in...

Tom
