IPA recommendation?

I bought some IPA, I forgot what the recommend percent to buy was so I bought 70 percent

How would I dilute this so that I can remove polish or compound oils but not damage paint. I read from Mike that you possibly could if too strong percentage. I will be using a 32oz bottle if if helps to understand what it will be diluted in
 
I recall folks using 12.5% IPA solution. I use CP Eraser or BF coating prep.

IPA doesn't really have any lubrication properties.

There are so many more effective
"Panel Wipes" available out there:
do yourself a favor and use them.

After giving formulas for mixing up stronger solutions, Mike settles on 10%. If you want a 32 oz bottle of 10%, you will have to end up with 3.2 oz of alcohol. To find out how many ounces of 70% you need to have 3.2 oz of IPA, multiply 3.2 by the inverse of .7, which gives you roughly 4.5 oz.

So Bill, take your 32 oz bottle, pour in 4.5 oz of your 70% IPA, add 27.5 oz of water, and you will have 32 oz of 10% IPA solution (the actual % will be 9.84).

I was trying to do my own IPA solution to prep the paint after polish, but after research a lot, found out that using one product designed for that was the best decision to make.

I bought the CarPro Eraser (1000ml) and I'm glad I did. This stuff is amazing and smell so nice.

Thank you Setec, very helpful. I would want to use ipa in some instances after polishing but it does not need to be super strong as mike said.
 
I love CarPro Eraser too. Seems to work great. However, people been using an IPA solution for years with excellent results. Water In essence is providing some lubrication. So, saying there is zero lubrication is false, just not as good as I'd say Eraser.

There's also the new panel wipes from Wolfgang and Optimum.
 
If the IPA is leaving any marring or you have sensitive black paint. I'd use Eraser or alike. However, IPA is perfectly fine and acceptable.
 
I dilute mine down to 10%, the article made figuring out the ratios super easy.
