Ipa wipe down with 70% isopropyl alcohol mixture question

How do you know Eraser contains 30% IPA or any IPA?

Material safety data sheet - it is an obligatory document that must be made available for any chemical product. It has become common for some brands to refuse to supply these but that is actually not something they are allowed to do under health and safety regulations. The problem is that the MSDS will list all the hazardous ingredients and that can help duplication of the products by others. I should state very clearly that the value of an MSDS is the safety data it provides, not the composition (this is meant primarily for medics in case of a problem). If any manufacturer refuses to give you one, you should make it known on a forum like this or report it to your health and safety body.

Carpro certainly used to have their MSDS online although I will admit that I cannot find them anymore. The eraser sheet listed as I stated earlier. I think this is pretty well known.

:iagree:
I really like to stay with one brand of product.
Manufactures know better than me and the result speak for themselves.
Less problems for the detailer in the finished jobs.

The BEST thing is follow the manufacturers instructions for any coatings. For example; Opticoat: use Optimum polishes, then gentle IPA or water wipedown. If the car is clean, and the towels are good, marring shouldn't be an issue on normal paint.

CQuartz, use Eraser. G Technique, use their Panel wipe. DP, use their polish. If the manufacturer cant provide or point you to a product to use prior to their coating, why use it? Too many out there that do. Unless you want to gamble?[/QUOTE]

A great option if your applying coatings is just do a finish/jeweling polish that wipes clean (unlike most polishes that leave lubricating oils). Gtechniq's P2 works great (some of the best polish I've used) and have read good things about Optimum Finishing Polish. Just make sure to use a finishing pad and you'll knock out both a cleanly scrubbed surface free of any contaminates (no need for IPA wipe) but you'll also have a super smooth surface.
