Anyone have a good suggestioon for a decent set of speakers for an Ipod? I wanna start using mine outside as I'm working on the car but my gut feeling is speakers such as the Logitech Pure-Fi are more geared towards traverlers so they won't be loud enough. Mine doesn't need to be moble nor have a rechargeable battery, it needs to be loud enough for me to hear outside with decent sound quality.

Honestly the best thing I've used for one is the Bose Sounddock for the iPod. One of the bands I work for requires it to be setup in the dressing room every show. It's loud as hell. I have one in my workbox too actually. It's loud enough that I can crank it up and usually hear it over a guitar cabinet on the back side of my workbox. They are pricey, but worth it. And I'm not even a big Bose fan. I think their home theater systems suck actually.

I have a Kicker sounddock for my ipod. Its very loud and clear. I have it in my garage for when me and my rommies have parties. We will have 40+ people in there, you can still here the music crystal clear. I can even hear it perfectly clear over my dewalt and pc. Its pricey like the Bose but well worth it. Also comes with a great warranty.

I second the Bose sounddock. Nice unit but pricey. But then again, so is a Ferrari.

Pat.

I have to add the Bose is also very rugged. I've had mine for 2 years, it's been all around the world shipped in my work box via freight (Soundmoves, Rockit Cargo, etc), and my work box has gotten pretty beat up, and this thing has been beaten up inside it. Still working great, used it on just about every type of power out there.

One more vote for the Bose. Of the ones I could actually listen to before purchase, it took top honors.

+1 for the Bose Sounddock.

I have the non-portable version and it sounds fantastic. The two versions (plug vs battery) both sounded good when I was testing them out.

Yeah......looks like I most likely will go with the Bose as they are selling on Amazon for $229 (black) or $199 (white) with free shipping, no tax, far better than BestBuy had it for $269+tax......shame though it doesn't have any inputs......Bose is whacked sometimes....thanks for your help...

No worries.

That's one of the reasons I don't like the Bose home theater. Not enough customization for my tastes. I'm a monitor engineer (along with all kinds of backline), so good sound is a must for me at home. In the workbox though that thing kills!

I would definaly NOT go with the Bose over the Kicker iKick. I've had both and while the Bose sounds good, the Kicker blows it friggin sky high. It's like the Bose is a Honda Accord and the Kicker is a Ferrari 599, it's that good.

It's only $249 as well with free shipping from crutchfield.com

I have the Kicker.....for my Zune ;) and it freakin rocks. Crystal clear at all levels with no distortions. In my research Bose was rated pretty poorly (home audio and headphones) and considered good at marketing. Take it for what it's worth but I vote Kicker all the way.

Does the Kicker play by batteries also? and does it have a FM tuner? Sounds like a nice system and I have been looking for something like this for the pool, beach, garage.

Negative AC power only and Kicker recommends it not be near water. As far as a FM tuner your mp3 player would need that. This is an interview with a guy from Kicker going through the features (Same as ipod)
