Thinking about using Iron-x and product description I believe makes mention of masking off chrome. For those that have actually used this product how necessary is this step?

Also, if only purchasing either the spray or the gel and not both, which would you recommend?

Thanks to all responders in advance!

IDK about taping off chrome. I've never had a problem, just make sure thee isn't any rust and I think you should be fine. I would get the spray.

it is safe on chrome

it will colour lead wheel weights green but that can be scrubbed off

just don't let it dry in the sun and you can put it on anything.

I've never used the gel (concentrate) but the spray is awesome.

One spray per panel (maybe two for hood and roof) and spread it around with a sponge, wait 5 min, then agitate and rinse...

thanks a bunch guys. Just placed an order for the iron-x spray as well as opti-coat 2.0.

What do you all do about brake calipers? I was thinking about at least something poked in through the wheels to cover them when spraying iron-x.

Tim has you covered with good advice but at the end of my review there is a FAQ with everything you could hope to ask from Avi of CarPro. http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/product-reviews/42651-review-carpro-iron-x.html

My advise could be very simple.
after you sprayed all over the wheel, even on the calipers..
on the caliper just hose it with water pretty quickly, close rinse , or close power wash.. just to clear the ironx from them
if you have access to them ofcourse.
it should sort this problem.
