iron x question

I have read a lot here and Mikes E book recently and am convinced to use iron x which I just ordered. the question I have is it states to keep the product off chrome. I have body side molding chrome (2012 Gmc Sierra) and the bumpers etc. How in the hell do you spray this on the body side panels and keep it off the chrome moldings, bumpers etc.? or is that just a caution?

I"m not sure what the deal is with the warning against using Iron X with chrome is? Maybe Avi can chime in and explain.

My guess is if you use it on any chrome plated steel surface where the chrome is already damaged possibly it could exacerbate any rusting problems already in progress?

Just a wild guess and I don't make many of these...

I was wondering about Iron X on callipers as well, but every picture I see has it sprayed all over wheels and the callipers aren't covered at all.
 
I guess I can place a plastic bag over he bumpers and chrome running boards and ape off he side rim which has pain and chrome. Or just give i a spray job. thank you all.

In regards to wheels, the wheel weights will change color...it's not permanent, but you will have to scrub it away.

Black Plastic pieces are the only items in which I steer clear of when using IronX, as it can cause a bit of discoloring.
 
One more quick ? It's a daily driver that is sealed with wfgps and fusion months ago and I don't have days to refinish polish etc as the paints looks pretty good except fir some small crap here and there on the paint which I believe is iron. Here's what I want to do just a good wash and pat dry and then iron x it and rewash and wait ill a long weekend to strip and finish again. Iron x won't strip off lsp and polish.

I thought wash pat dry iron x and re wash and maybe a quick spray wax? What you think?
 
Follow up question. Instructions say to use a damp sponge to move the product around the paint. I high quality sponge should be used I suspect, but since this is applied post wash, but pre polish I guess if it adds a couple no big deal. But what would use if this was part of a monthly maintenance wash to avoid adding any unwanted scratches?

Would a LC Blue sponge, or maybe the microfiber bone sponge be the way to go?

Yup, I agree. I sprayed it on my wheels and the stuff that did get on the weights ended up turning green. A quick wipe/scrub with APC will remove that with little effort.
 
I have not had any issues with neutral bleeding cleaners and chrome (be cautious with those with acidic pHs). I suspect Carpro are being cautious and that is understandable from a professional chemical perspective - these products are concentrated and reactive, they should not be handled without consideration. Personally, we recommend users carry out a test on any 'interesting' finishes to guarantee no reaction occurs. This should really not require stating (much like 'do not allow to dry') but you have to cover yourself these days.
 
Apply in neutral/easy conditions and just mist/apply where paint areas occur. You do not need to flood an excessive amount on the paint.
