Is it better/worse to use Iron X on a wet surface? Does it matter? I know I read somewhere you can clay a wet car so I just wondered as I'm trying to save as much time as possible. My one and a half day job got reduced to just one...

Also, Iron X doesn't need diluted correct?
 
Ironx process:

remove wax/sealant
dry
spray on IronX
let it dwell for a few minutes
rinse
clay
wash

Some say a more dry surface, the less water on the surface the less diluted the Iron-X is, therefor more effective.

I am always hesitant to use on a completely dry surface as your not supposed to let it dry on the paint.

No need to dilute Iron-X

My answers/opinions in bold above.
 
IronX should be used on a dry car. On a wet surface the water will dilute it or carry it away before it can dissolve the iron particles.

Correct, IronX is RTU.
 
Avi has also said that it can be left to dry on the car as long as it is not in the sun. Not saying that you should let it dry but if it does (out of the sun) then you don't need to panic...

A few drops of water on the surface are ok but you don't want to dilute the product by having a wet vehicle.

IronX is very safe for paint. It only attacks the iron particles. Just use as directed.

Thought of another one. I have a couple rust spots (I think they are rust anyway) that are the result of stone chips. They are right around the headlights. If it is indeed rust will the Iron X make anything worse?

It will dissolve the rust , after doing that you will need to seal very well these spots,
if not it will continue to oxidize !
 
I spray the vehicle from roof to wheels minus glass then I get other things ready, rinse, foam, wash

Good I was hoping this would be the case. I plan on hitting them with touch up paint as well after. Thanks.

How do you avoid it running onto the glass from the roof and such?

When you spray it on it does not run much on flat surfaces, there is a little that gets on windows and I have had no ill effects :xyxthumbs:

It says on the bottle for paint, wheels, and glass...
 
Im new here.

Will iron x strip wax and sealant as a standalone before polishing and re sealing/waxing? Or do i still have to use a proper soap to strip the paint clean?

proper form is to strip the lsp before iron x

it will strip organic waxes somewhat but not sealants
 
I use opc @ 3:1 and dawn

some mix opc with their regular car soap
griots paint prep, citrus wash and gloss, etc, all work too
