Hello all,

I just used Iron X for the first time today. Should the sprayer head spring be metal? Mine is but I thought they were supposed to be plastic so that the spring did not cause the liquid to change color? I used almost half the bottle for one car is this too much?

Thanks,
Drew

Also I did not see any "bleeds" but my car is black so is this normal?

look for little puddles of purple bleed in the runoff

half a bottle might be excessive. As long as the car has been dried well so the IX isn't diluted too much, then 2-3 sprays is good for a door panel. Use a grout sponge and spread the product well. Let it dwell for 5 minutes and then agitate it again with the sponge. You can keep doing this as long as the product doesn't dry out.

I too used way too much the first time but have refined the technique with stuff I've read on here.

I think I'm going to get the IX paste next. It's even more concentrated than the spray and lends itself well to the sponge method...

My spray bottle has metal spring I just spray clean water through it when I'm done.

The key as mentioned earlier the dryer the better. When you said you used almost half a bottle I'm guessing your using the small one, I can usually get 4 or 5 cars out of a bottle as long as their not totally covered metal debris plus we are only using where it needs it the most. not apply to roof, hood and trunk usually.

I think autogeek still has the older spray head. I bought Iron X on Bogo back in Dec or so and mine also had the metal spring even though an all plastic head was mentioned.

i used half a bottle the first time as well. I am also thinking of trying the paste. Hopefully it will help me refine my technique and use less.....and maybe not smell as bad

Yeah the spray pattern was just not very wide so I found I had to spray alot to cover the car. But hey, we will have the most iron free WRXs in the country!!

LOL,

My car is washed weekly, clayed and waxed every 6 months and in a garage at night. I used Iron X after a year and a half and it almost wasn't worth it. Even on a white car there was barely any visible purple. On the other hand my buddy's highlander that is also a year and a half old but never waxed or clayed almost turned purple.

Maybe it is foolish but there is something about watching a product change colors as it works that makes me happy.
