How long do you let iron x soap sit? Just wondering because I wash outside and wasn't sure about the sunlight issue. Will be applying with a foam gun it cannon.

Straight from the CarPro website:

Do not allow to dry on surface in sun. Avoid use on warm surfaces and in direct sun.

If it was me I would let it dwell for four to five minutes as long as your in a shaded non direct sunlight area

Yea I got this but I can't wash inside?
Maybe I should just get the paint cleaner and spray it on after I wash in the garage.

I just got a sample of Iron-X snow foam for my foam cannon. Looking forward to using it.

Question for you guys - how are you supposed to wash in shade if you are washing during the day? That's what I dont get. Everything says not to use in sunlight, but yet you have to be outside to use it. What, the 1 hour in the morning and evening where it is light out but not sunny?

or just wait for a shadey day, but thats lame too.

paint cleaner meaning the spray? Once you smell it you will not want to do it in the garage. Yuck. But man it works!

I think the soap in a foam cannon is a waste. I was pretty disappointed in it for the reasons above. Havent tried a pump on wash mitt method yet though.

You can wash in direct sun, as long as you keep the vehicle wet the entire time, so water spots do not form.

-Wash outside

-Pull into the garage

-Spray with IRON-X

-Let dwell

-Spread with sponge

-Let dwell

-Move out of garage and rinse

-Move into garage and dry

If you don't have a shady place then you make one by putting up one of those big car tents/canopy or start to wash your vehicle around five or five thirty in the afternoon when the sun is not overhead

Oh thats an idea.

5 or 530 my car is still being blasted by the sun. Up until like 630 there is one side of the car in direct sunlight, getting blasted.

That is what I was trying to say in a extended version. I was just wondering about the soap, if that had to be in shade as well. From what I'm hearing that may be the case so I'm over that idea. Thanks for the comments.

At this time of year, I wash outside right at sunrise (early morning get ups on weekends!) or after the sun drops behind the houses across the street in the evenings. Overcast days are another option, but trying to get the perfect environment can be challenging with a full time job, family and so on. A canopy is another idea, but I seldom use mine due to the time it takes to set everything up and then put it all away at the end of the job.

Yea I hear you, im fine with not advertising the use of iron x. I think I'll use it on a car by car basis depending on the environment I have to work in. If I have shade then I'll use it, if not then I'll just nanoskin it the best I can.

I've never seen any bleeding from using the Iron X snow foam. Even when sprayed on dirty wheels. But I guess that doesn't mean its not dissolving the sintered iron. When I use it I'll spray it on 2 panels or the side of the car, let dwell 2-3 min then use the foam as clay lube, then rinse those panels. Go on to the next section. Its a bit slow, but I am getting the iron removal and claying done at the same time. It works fine as a clay lube. I toss the piece of clay afterwards.

That sounds like a good and safe way to do it. I think that it still is faster than claying with a traditional clay bar. you are talking about the nanoskin with the soap right?
