Abram86;1079133]Right now im a home based detailing business that operates by appointments only and I get tired of being asked my prices even though I have them listed on FB.
Then customers wonder why my first customers get a full interior/exterior detail for 60.00 but im charging them 75.00?
I was recommended to get a website with my pricing but would it be worth it money wise since im not a big time company? I really dont have much money laying aroundm

I'm not a pro detailer, but--having done graphic design for a while--I would say it is well worth it if this is something you intend on doing for the long-run. A web presence is the face of your business, relatively inexpensive, and is accessible to everyone.

Another thing is that people are relying more and more on web-based research before they select goods & services. If I check out 5 detailers websites/facebook pages and only 3 of them have prices listed--I'm automatically ignoring the other two. I don't like when service-based small businesses don't make their pricing easy to access (if applicable). It also makes me think your pricing might be too high since you're not being transparent. I want to see your pricing by package and a la carte if need-be. I also want to see any specials you might have running in large text/large image format--something to draw my attention. As a potential customer, just those things alone can lock me in to using you (as long as I like your detailing pics), even if someone else's prices are a little cheaper. Either way, if cost is a concern you could look at some options:

  1. You get business cards that not only have your facebook home listed, but a couple package prices as well. That way you can simply hand people a card.
  2. You get a free site hosted off Weebly.com or Wordpress.com.
  3. You get a low-cost web hosting from a source like Hostgator.com or JustHost.com, but you'll have to sign up for a multi-year deal. It will work out to less than $50/year, which is pretty good.
Btw...what is your facebook site? I tried to look you up and got a bunch of "Xtreme Auto" listings.

I am not a 'big time company' but my site is very useful... plus it is FREE except for the $25/yr for the registered domain name.

Also, you will always get asked "how much do you charge __________" regardless of how many times you have it posted on your site/facebook/etc. I promise.

I get people contacting me via the form on my website that clearly have never looked at my services or the pricing. It is just something you will have to deal with as a service oriented business. Be polite and direct them towards your price list.

Zach, not to be a doubter/downer about it but if I am not mistaken your site is a "pro" account, right? (in order to have more than 5 pages, and to have pull down menus). If that is the case, then you have to add the "pro" fee. A snappages pro is $80/year

Either way that is a small investment for the extra work that it is sure to bring in. People these days are less likely to call someone without a website. People want to see what kind of product they are going to be getting. I have had a few people tell me they contacted me strictly because I had a website while others in my area don't. Pretty much if you get one job from having your site, it has paid for itself. Plus if you are doing things legally it is a tax write off anyways.

Claude, my account is the free version. I simply pay $25/yr for the domain and that is it. They may have changed the limitations of the free account?

I am currently at my maximum amount of allowed pages for my free account. The drop down menu option is available as long as you can create another "link page" to use, therefore I would not be able to create another drop down menu as I have no more available pages.

Well blow me down! I guess they did change. I created one for my primary business and got the 404 after the elapse period. I did own my own site and just pointed (which is a pro only feature).

Thanks for the info. Was building one for my detailing business but did not want to go full fledged on a part time business.

Its crazy that today I just recieved a call from a company that says they guarantee me front page of Google and will build me a 4 page website worth $500 all for $199 a month with no contractm

might want to look a lot more into that.. I have had companies call me as well with almost the same offers. I was driving to work, so i told them to send me an email with the info so i can review it later. they said "we dont do emails, everything must be done over the phone." and never herd from them again. idk what was up with that

what was the name of the company?

I can't remember cause they were fast talkers and wouldn't hang up when I told them I was broke

My website cost around $1000. It has paid for itself many tikes over again since it was designed.

Hosting is usually the biggest pain to find. I just renewed mine with Stabe Host and it was a great price. I had used Blue Host for the first year but there fees went up when it was time to renew. Don't let them talk you into the "front page of Google" since that is pretty easy nowadays with SEO. If you want some help just let me know.

My business is a side business and I made my website myself, only took a few days of working here and there. It has paid for itself a few times and I get enough business through it to justify it.

lol good luck with that. They may get you on the front page of Google for a crappy keyword and your site won't look great.

If you want to grow at all or want credibility, it is a must. If you are just doing this on the side and by word of mouth only, maybe not but it would still be beneficial.

The quote below is very true. The web is how people find you, learn about you and what they use to evaluate you before you ever speak to them. It is even more important today than 4 years ago because of smart phones and the ease of searching.
